Don’t know what double gauze is, but looking at the fabric here, it looks adorable. What size did you make this? Does the fabric hold up well with a baby? It says to wash is cold and hang to dry, but can it be washed in warm or hot water and dried in dryer? First grandchild due in March, so hanging to dry won’t work too well due to cold weather. Also, what is a swaddle? Sorry to seem so uninformed, but we didn’t have these things when my sons were babies.

Linda, they wrap the newborn in swaddles nowadays, arms and all, like a bug in a rug, they say it's better for them. The new moms nowadays don't even use blankies depending on the thickness of the swaddle but, usually if it's cold, they wear jammies and then the swaddle is used. I made several quilts and blankies for my new grandson about two years ago and they actually never got used until he was 12-18 months old and out of the swaddle. Things are so different nowadays, they are never put to bed on their tummies either, always on their backs which was a no-no in my day, but nevertheless, they survived. Anyhow a double gauze if a very lightweight, breathable fabric, great for the swaddle and it will hang dry indoors on a hanger or something like that. If you purchase double gauze, make sure it's Embrace Double Gauze by Shannon Fabrics, the others aren't made as well. Congrats on your first grandchild Linda - enjoy! I’ve never used a rolled hem foot before, but looks like I should try it. I’ve just turned under each edge twice & sewed w a straight stitch. I wish the camera person would have done a better job getting close ups of the stitching you pointed out so we could have seen what you wanted to point out.

This is such a quick and easy baby gift! It's also cute to sew a few, roll them up, make a sweet little bundle, tie they with a ribbon. Done. :)

The fabric is double gauze. That is how this fabric looks. Wrinkly. 😉
