Today I am re-creating Cecilie Bahnsen's Ruth dress. I thought it was really beautiful and loved the organza skirt. I haven't made any event dresses like this yet so thought it would be fun to try! Thought it would be a great evening party dress but maybe you can make your own dress for prom, or other special occasion!

For the hole on the skirt at 11:32, you could make a single button hole on the outermost fabric in the vicinity of where you marked. I've seen it done on my pajamas for the drawstring. It might not be the most ideal option in this case since the organza is the outermost layer 😅. Maybe if you had tissue paper as an underlay to temporarily stabilize it. 🤷‍♀️

There's a pretty good bodice block drafting tutorial that I have used on a blog called Into the Folds. If you're willing to invest a little money, there's a kit from the brand Lutterloh which uses a pretty unique system to help you draft out a bunch of patterns. Withwendy has a good video where she compares Into the Folds vs. Lutterloh bodice blocks called "I try making the perfect fit". Kim Dave also has a good self-drafting tutorial video called "how to: make basic bodice block pattern" (I really like her pattern drafting videos in general). Zoe Hong also has a good video about shifting the darts/creating princess seams from your block - "how to move darts & create princess seams".

Just tried making my own skirt. It went fine but I had very little fabric so it was too small and ripped after a few minutes of me wearing it. I’m not giving up though because with a lot of practice I will hopefully be a really good seamstress
