Where can you buy the paper venner? I have a hope chest like this one, it has a very small pice missing from the bottom in the front . Please advise. Thank you

Would it be possible to just put heavy weights on the center of the piece? If so, how many pounds would you suggest? Also, I have a piece that is alligatoring but I can't tell what the finish is. I tried denatured alcohol and lacquer thinner but nothing seems to happen with them. Just some cloudiness from the denatured alcohol (no sticky). So I was wondering is it would be better to just put a new veneer on.
