Thanks so much for sharing - total amateur here (first experience with polygel and popits was 2 weeks ago and I found I had poor control over structure and bubbles, omg, the bubbles!). I will have a lot more control of what's going on this way. Omg!! This was the best! I’m new to poly gel and have been trying to figure out the dual forms and one layer has been so tricky. I’ve tried several times with other tutorials and it’s still so hard. I’ve have many times where I think it’s cured all the way but then a week later when I go to take off the poly gel I find that there is un-cured product on my nail!! Gross! So this video was soooo helpful. Can’t wait to try this once my little one goes to bed tonight!
@krystalfukinmarie7573 жыл бұрын
That happens a lot with colored polygels. Any dark colors, and white. Like there’s too much pigment in them to cure all the way through from the top. Are you still having that issue? If so, another thing I’ve found that helps is do a thin layer with clear, cure it, pop the form off (dual form or paper form doesn’t matter, pop it off) then do your color, cure it 30-60, flip your hand over & cure another 30-60 (unless your lamp actually has a reflector on the bottom, mine doesn’t but I got a mirror to set it on so now I don’t have to do it twice like that)

I am in the process of switching my acrylic clients to gel. I tried dual forms on Kendelle on the weekend and oh man, what a fricken mess. The gel I used was thinner though so I think that is why I had such a hard time. I have learnt where I went wrong and know what to do different next time. All I can say is thank goodness gel is easier to file, lol. I never in a million years thought I would use gel. I am liking it but need a lot of practice.

@Denisejohn65NailEd6 жыл бұрын
Yes , this should be better as long as you add more layers to it . Builder it a bit thicker each layer . There are some people who don't understand my concept here . But I use the dual form as one would use a glue on tip . When you use a glue one tip , you add a layer of acrylic and or layers of gel . This dual form takes the place of and acts like a glue on tip ....only it isn't a glue of tip . I hope you find this way a bit better and that your nails last longer . Let me know how it works out for you .

Thanks . Yes , just globbing on a huge bead of gel can be excruciatingly painful if there is a heat spike . I have always done gels in layers . Mostly 2 to 3 layers , adding a bit more gel each layer to create the structure .
@Denisejohn65NailEd6 жыл бұрын
Girl it does , F**kin hurt like HELL Fire 🔥 ( i can only imagine hell fire ) That’s why I can’t understand how these techs be piling on that gel so thick in one gob ! It ain’t acrylic ! There is a reason 2 - 3 thinner layers are done . Yes , it’s more time consuming, but less or no burning and a better structure . They do that gobbing on technique for speed , to get done faster .... burning the client in the process . Sad ....
@RaquelGMGM5 жыл бұрын
That was exactly what i thought when i was watching all videos about this technique. Im not a proffessional and i thought, maybe it is easier if you just put a thin layer and then you form the nail that you want. I think thats easier to get the structure you want, above all if you are starting with this technique.

Mine lasted for weeks and weeks until I just removed them . I think people don’t understand true nail structure and the apex and why a nail has to be built a certain way . Hence why dual forms are not a good choice for Constructing a nail tip. Dual forms do not give the correct structure for a artificial nail that will last a long time. They just don’t understand .

@@nisha549 they might work great for you! I was probably just being stupid but I couldn't get them to be the right shape or perfectly straight and they often came unstuck. Seriously though, it's highly likely it was just human error on my part because I know so many people love sticky nail forms.
@nisha5493 жыл бұрын
@@TheDevilDarling Oh okay thank you for explaining. I'm so nervous about doing them. I tried dual forms but they couldn't fit on my finger right. And they were thin and broke. Then I had bubbles by the cuticle. I gave up all hope until I tried regular tips then poly. That was much easier . But I want to have another option and try nail form . But that does seem tricky too because I'll be doing all the sculpting. 😩
@heatherpratt18885 жыл бұрын
I have never done this, but it is clear that you are definitely doing this harder then it has to be...
@Denisejohn65NailEd5 жыл бұрын
No ... I do this because it’s better than gluing on a plastic tip . I’m known to experiment with different ways of doing nails . I always use regular paper nail forms and never use dual forms or glue on tips . Dual forms are not typically ever used by licensed trained nail techs . You will never see them in a salon . But yeah , if it’s not for you than that’s completely fine . * I do have to point out another reason . When dual forms are used , one never gets the correct thickness or structure of a proper nail . That being the main reason for this . This acts as a tip and I build the correct structure on top . Otherwise dual forms just break off within a day or lift Because they are so thin and the structure is not correct.

Hi Denise, cool video! I want to try poly gel but am wondering if I can cure them with a 6W LED lamp?
@Denisejohn65NailEd4 жыл бұрын
No , you need a better light . That would take to long . It’s not Efficient. If this is something that you were going to do from now on invest in a better lamp. 36 to 48 W with at least 24 lights or more in it. You might as well get a low heat mode too. Hope this helps.
@krystalfukinmarie7573 жыл бұрын
I see mini lights that are 6w sold with polygel kits and I’ve seen people use them and they seem to work, but I agree with Denise. They aren’t good enough, long term. Amazon has some nice lamps from 36w up to like 150w anywhere from $20-$50 and up. I got mine a 48w in a modelones kit, it works okay for a beginner but I will be investing in a better one this year.

😂 right tho! I wouldn’t be able to just do one layer and have it last either. I do mine similar when I use dual forms. I make like a nail tip with it, I don’t do it to cover my whole nail bed. More like the bottom half of it. Cure it. Pop the form off. Then build the nail & apex. Works so much better for me. But where did you get that silicone thing you clean around the cuticles with? Does this do you natural nail bed the same way acrylic nails do when you take them off? Or is your nails still normal once you take it off?
@Denisejohn65NailEd6 жыл бұрын
Well , your acrylic nails needs to be removed properly and if they are , no damage will ever occur . Gel comes in a soak off and also a hard ( Hard - which means to get it off you have to file it off ) If you are a beginner with gel , best to use a soak off gel . It's easier to use and if you should make mistakes , you soak it in acetone to remove . Acrylic or gel should never ruin your nails . It is the nail tech who is ruining your nails by improper applications and removal processes . Seek out a good reputable nail tech .

What's the tool your using to clean the cuticle before curing? Thank you 🙂

Gum stimulator. She has a link in her description box, but they’re sold out at the moment. I’m sure you can find other brands of them tho.

Can you also use rubber base gel on dual forms for extensions
@Denisejohn65NailEd3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think that would work . I think the extensions would be too soft and flexible .

You can always try it if you have the rubber base .

What do you recommend if you want to use a peeable base gel to remove the polygel? In other words, should I do that since I hate the long removal process? Or what's the easiest process to remove them when you're ready to take them off? Thanks
@Denisejohn65NailEd Жыл бұрын
Don’t use a peel off . Just file off or continue to fill the nails as it’s meant .

I was wondering if it could be used with the led lamp or would it be better for uv? Does that make a difference?
@Denisejohn65NailEd7 жыл бұрын
That only depends on what gel you use . If it's led gel , it will only cure in a Led lamp . If it is a uv gel , it will cure in a uv lamp and also in a dual lamp . A dual lamp cures both kinds of gel .

Advice wanted,... this gel you used is it like makartt qikgel like in consistency,because I've heard it's not advisable to use dual forms with qikgel because the consistency runny but your method works
@Denisejohn65NailEd3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what Markartts is like so I can’t answer that . This technique works .

Hi !! Is it possible to work with any UV gel and plain TIPS? Thanks
@Denisejohn65NailEd6 жыл бұрын
You can use any gel . Sometimes is works with regular tips and sometimes it doesn’t . Hit or miss .

Have you tried doing a whole nail with the dual form, it does work
@Denisejohn65NailEd6 жыл бұрын
Probably , but I would still file and add layers of gel , cuz you can’t get proper structure with dual forms . I never really use dual forms . I use normal paper forms .
@abigailvargas695 жыл бұрын
Super late viewer but thank you so much. I really want to try this technique but can you tell me the list of products you use in order? Do you still do the same technique or ot different now?
@krystalfukinmarie7573 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking but I’ll try since you didn’t get a reply. 1) regular natural nail prep 2) dehydrator 3) primer and base where you’re going to apply the gel tip 4) fiber gel applied into a dual form, placed on the nail tip & cured, form removed, wipe of the inhibition layer with alcohol, buff the surface 5) primer on the rest of the natural nail 6) base over the whole thing, cure 7) build the rest of the nail up and the apex, clean up the cuticle area, cure, remove inhibition layer 8) shape/file the nail

What about if want to apply the gel on my nail with a tip yo shape them , like I saw in other videos, is that possible? And what tips I can use for a perfect shape
@Denisejohn65NailEd6 жыл бұрын
You can use any glue on tip ...any shape . You will need to file the shine of off the nail tip after gluing it onto your nail .
