Yes, and you can get men’s shirts at a thrift store. And in fact, there are ton’s of frame at goodwill.
@teresacarle2947 ай бұрын
😊Yes, 💯% brilliant idea to use both thrifted ♂️Men's shirts & picture frames. You'd get much higher ⬆️ quality of fabric on dress, flannel, & even utility shirts at a significantly lower⬇️ price point. In most chain 2nd hand stores, you have such a wide range of shirts to choose from too. ✂️You can cut the mat out of thinner cardboard like a cereal or cracker box. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I also had put 3 little ikea drawers together, secured them with metal plates like brackets in the back. Covered all the front in handmade indian paper of a bird landscape, as to camouflage the drawers, giving it a holistic look, blending it in. Fabric would definitely work too.

Loved the little striped chest you created! I was holding my breath when you were arming stripes, afraid you were going to paint. My relief when you did the stain! I loved the tiny dovetails and features on that piece and it would be sad to lose all those. I wouldn't change a thing about what you did with there! ❤ I liked the wrapped frames, too. That was such cute striped fabric! I'm not sure I like both the frame and mat wrapped to match - for me it might need to be one element only - but I didn't hate it, either! Not a fan of the light. I like the plain rice paper ball better. But that's just me. I can definitely see the possibilities, though! Best of all, you could find remnants at great prices to make the fabric shade. It would be easy to swap out based on seasons or redecorating.

The CABINET !!!!!! The internal shrieking at every step! There's so much room for personalization (same with the other two really) although I would never be able to hang mine on the wall. Crow Brain would put too many things in the drawers until something failed. Glue, wall attachment, WALL, or the very wood joints themselves.

1. Frame wraps. Looks great! Makes professional statement. 2. Ikea fabric lamp shade. Great idea. looked awesome. So many options to make it your own. 3. The cabinet has potential. I wasn't totally in love with your version. I love that you shuffled the drawers!. I would consider beefing up the top, bottom and sides with some thicker wood. Perhaps some panel molding on the bland flat pieces. And painting, instead of staining may have worked better for me. Maybe some stylish furniture/cabinet legs? I dunno.

Love the little cabinet! I think there was a feathered look at the front because the stripes were perpendicular to the grain vs the top where they were parallel, so there was less bleeding through the grains on the top.

You should use a matt finish clear spray paint to finish of the material covered frames, it helps for easy cleaning. Also, you could have sprayed that drawer cabinet with the matt clear finish spray paint after you applied the tape, but before staining to prevent the bleeding.

the sides and fronts of the drawer boxes are made of the same plywood, but the reason the stain took differently on the edges of the stripes is because of the difference in grain direction. the capillary action of the wood fibers is carrying the stain farther than the edges of the tape on the fronts because the grain is horizontal and the edge of the tape is perpendicular to it. on the sides it’s cleaner because the stripes are running parallel to the vertical grain. looks great though!
