I like the way you can adjust the splitter head

I love this, the best part is the hydraulic adjustable head. The only thing I would add is an extortion on the front after the head so the wood doesn't just drop.

Love it! Got the original, saw how small it was, returned it for the XL. It splits my ~7x16" firewood into smallwood and kindling in a flash. kzbin.infoUgkxSRemO77LrM90rx_It_Wh6ZnKAS0H2A8t Good for debarking too. It's so fun I now have too much kindling and have to fight the urge to split the big pieces. I usually split dried cedar, but I've split dried oak too. The edge on mine has stayed razor sharp. I mounted it on a couple pieces of pressure treated 4x4 to hold it steady and quiet the ringing. Several reviews and videos show people having trouble keeping the wood straight. How do I put this gently?... You have to be smarter than the wood. Don't try to split knots, or badly curved grain. And hold the wood (with leather gloves) and tap it once to set it on the blade before giving it a good whack. And you have to know how to swing a hammer. If you don't know what wood grain or knots are, and you can't swing a hammer without hitting yourself or things around you, I suggest buying firewood and kindling pre-split. But if you're smarter than a log, this beautiful tool will make splitting firewood into kindling safer, faster and way more funner! I highly recommend it, and get the XL.

I'd have switch the controls to the lift side so you wouldn't have to walk around the machine. other than that just a top stop to hold the log tips from pinning up on the log last spilt. pretty sweet. now where do I get that piston ?!! haha

Surely this would be better facing the opposite direction .crushing wood towards the quad bike dosent make sence. But it's a nice build

Why do they always demo a splitter using pine :) wanna see some 18 inch knotty oak like we split for heater wood. Nice unit for sure. We built basically identical unit 8hp, 25 ton, 30 inch stroke, 4 inch bore, log lift, 4 way wedge, etc. Very nice

The Hydraulic pump has to be lower than the hydraulic tank so it does not starve for oil other than that nice job
@benscoles5085
@benscoles5085 5 жыл бұрын
I am not sure if this one does , but some of these actually have pressurized tanks by means of the return line from the pump, return line to the pump is either a bit bigger than the supply line to the pump, or pressure is generated in the tank by sheer force of the pump, the air in the tank is compressed by heat of the fluid and force of the pump.

A log splitter is basic engineering. If you can't sketch one out on a piece of graph paper and figure out how to dimension it, you shouldn't be trying to build one!
