For some of these instruction videos I'll always click the one that's the shortest in time. Find one for 35 minutes and they'll yap about how their dog got drunk one time and blah blah blah. Just give me the stupid recipe!

Hint: Add the molasses to the water until you get a gravity reading of 1060+ and don't add sugar, epsom salts or spice. Rum is traditionally water, molasses and yeast. You will find the end product is far better than added sugar. Cheers. (The SA plug is a give away! )

@@henrynyabuto4892 ferment until you get to a gravity of 1.000 or below. Fermentation times will vary with, yeast type, temp and initial gravity reading.

Well I hadn't got an instrument for gravity measurement, but I did note the quantities. I've done it at a 5 liter scale

no liquid coming out, its just a small pipe in a jar of water, poor mans bubbler.

Verry different. Got a richer taste. A sugar wash has a certain taste to it no matter what flavor you add.

Plastic distill? Not sure what you referring to. Part1 is the fermentation (in a plastic container) Part2 is the distilling (in a copper still)

What is that black cord you have running into the bucket? Also, the tube that runs into the glass of water is genuis. I've got a bubbler, but that seems to be a better technique

Its a 20 liter fermentation bucket. So around 8 liters of cold water

What is the benefit of Epsom Salts ?? Now a post on distilling thst fluid, making the caramel, dissolving the caramel in the distilled rum liquid, and how much would be bottled from that batch ?? Thanks in advance. Stills: single, double or triple system ??

The sault is used as a yeast nutrient and I did not calculate how much a bottle would cost as this is just my hobby.

Alcohol destroys magnesium in your body I.e. epsom salts/ magnesium sulfate. That's why you add it! Controls the D.T.'s. Obviously, u don't drink much? Stick to Coke a cola if u r unsure!

This might be a stupid question but this process looks almost identical to brewing beer. Instead of bottling after a few weeks of fermenting like beer, I assume this mixture needs to be run through a still? great video pirate music + rum is a win

You can let your fruit wild ferment. But not sure if that will work for distilling.

Distil? Remove heads. Add water down to about 45%. Then you have rum. Missed a bunch of steps

Apple Jack, is easy too. Apple cider with no preservatives sugar and yeast. Let it work. Then freeze it. After it is frozen solid, let it thaw the first of the thawed is alcoholic. The ice is water waste. You can freeze it again and get more proof in the second thaw.
