the boat is very good, the technician is the most creative, I like it

The transom being cut in like that is interesting. Does it make it more stable or need less HP or what's the benefit

Nice work! Shaping the XPS foam is hard, I did some research and other people use some sort of auto body rasp. I had styrofoam and used a corded planner. Looking good 👍🏻

If you cut and hand sand in one direction only the foam will pill a lot less on you. Coarse grits and light pressure work best.

What glue did you use to glue the foam pieces together

I wonder how well it’s going to track in the water
On the wood supports in the foam did you just cut square holes and expandable foam them in? The same for transom wood just cut foam to width of wood and expandable foam in cut outs and press wood down in it? Was the foam in sheets 4’x8’x?

The timber stringer up the middle goes all the way up the centre and the timbers that run the width are spaced for the foam sheets which were 1200mmx 450mm (4'x1and a bit cause you guys measure weird) haha and the bottom sheets had dowel in them just 100mn long then a hole drilled in the side of the foam and expanda foam along the edge will stick the foam to the timber Hopefully all that makes sense if it doesn't add my instagram and I'll try explain it better there

How many hours does something like this take to do?
@thefishinglair24672 жыл бұрын
Im not really sure it's taken longer then I thought it would but I haven't been working on it every day, it started in lockdown but now I'm just working on it over the weekends when I can't get out fishing but it is very close now

Great build! Are you using closed cell structural foam?
@thefishinglair24672 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate im using Xps foam, it is closed cell but I'm not sure if it's structural I think it's just insulation, I added the timber stringer up the middle for extra support

I assume you're going to fiberglass everything. How smoother do you need to get the foam before starting the fairing process and fiberglass? Are you going to make this an electric motor powered boat? No sail? Great work. Sorry to hear your in lockdown.

Yea will all be fiberglassed over I sanded it fairly smooth started with 80grit working on to 180 grit sandpaper Will have an electric motor on the bow (for fishing) and a petrol motor on the stern for travelling
