I make and install the drawers and cabinet door for my DIY wood lathe stand. I turn some knobs and I add my new Laguna lathe.

Nice cabinet. I will use your style to make my new cabinet for my 12 X 36 with more drawers. THANK YOU FOR YOUR MISTAKES, You are such a great turner, it is nice to see you are also HUMAN like everyone else! Sometimes I can remember things that I use to know BEFORE I make the SAME mistake AGAIN! Thank you and please keep teaching. We need you.

I've found out that most of woodworking is trouble shooting -- figuring out how to fix mistakes. But I always learn a lot and hopefully don't make the same mistake again. It's always a new mistake!!! :) Thanks! I always enjoy your videos.

That turned out very nice! Thanks for sharing Mike. Mistakes help us learn. Now, remembering at our age is a whole different story!! Take care, Dave

Ha, ha! It looks like you do flat work just like me. Most of my time is spent fixing my mistakes. At least you will have this video to refer to for your next project, while I have to rely on my memory. With my memory I see many of the same mistakes in my future. LOL! The finished product looks like it will work just fine. Thanks for posting Mike.

Looks like a pretty good piece of shop furniture. Please show us your organization system in the drawers and bottom cabinet once you get it lined out. I think I would consider a pool-cue style rack on one end for the gouges/tools.

Good idea, Thomas, about the drawer organization. I will probably just continue to use my 5 gal bucket travel holder for the tools.

Very nice, Mike. Far better than recycled kitchen units. I particularly like the large drop down lower door, and that you used traditional wooden drawer slides, rather than fussy ball bearing type mountings. Bernard.

Thanks, Bernard. The full extension glides are great for big item drawers but overkill for small drawers.

Good job on the bench Mike. Mistakes and all (-: I made the same mistake once, mounting the hinges on the same side as the knob. Some glue and plugs and you are on your way. Take care.

Great build ! I'm now in the process of making one of these lathe carts as per your inspirational video that you have provided here . I have the same lathe that will go on top, the Laguna 12/16. I have a question - is there a reason that you positioned the lathe more to the left side of the top ? Thanks alot ! George in Fla.

To have a place to easily set some small item I could more easily reach right handed. If I centered it there would not have been enough room on either side.

Turned out real nice , you will have to let us all know how the new lathe is working in the future, I know Kim has issues with her lathe of that brand but hers is a large lathe , I'm just curious how yours will work out .

I got a Jet VS1221 a couple of months ago. I had to build a similar stand for it. I could have used a few of the tips and techniques you presented here. Still might be able to upgrade mine a bit. Yours is very nice. Great utility. Thanks for sharing. Are you going to SWAT?

You made a couple of mistakes but hay I make more than 2 every time I pick up a tool. One thing I did think of and was shouting at the monitor (you still didn't hear me but I think my neighbors did) was to put the other parts back on before wheeling the cabinet back into the shop.

Mike Which chuck do you use on the mini lathe?
@MikePeaceWoodturning
@MikePeaceWoodturning 5 жыл бұрын
I will probably use my Record Power SC3. But I also have a spindle adapter for 1" to 1 1/4 so I could use my other chucks without having to change jaws.

Hey Mike, Did you screw down your lathe or just place it on the top?
@tmarus

Also. What size castors did you use.
@MikePeaceWoodturning
@MikePeaceWoodturning 4 жыл бұрын
I am using three castors similar to the ones on the CWT lathes. There is an Amazon affiliate link in the video description. I have had no problem with not bolting the lathe down.
