you can use a prusik knot to slide you handles up and down. This removes the need for the tie/untie to adjust heights

I didn't wan't to fork over a lot of $$$ for a suspension trainer until I knew I was going to use it regularly. So I found a system called PEFXT, which is comparable to a TRX system.. It's only $39 on Amazon and when I received it, I was shocked on how well made it was. I've been using it a lot and it's very good.

For the plugs in the end I would look at a bike store and find the caps for Bicycle handlebars.

Very cool, will make a set soon. As for the cord check out a local climbing shop and ask about some accessory cord. You can get in many diameters and colors. Much stronger that paracord.

CoopTrains I got 24 feet of 5mm cord form my local shop for $11.00. I was a climber when I was in my late teens to mid twenties so I just use a couple biners I had in storage. Thanks for posting this video. I made a set last week and have been keeping them in my car. I have used them a few times now at my local park(even though it is in the mid 30s lately). It is refreshing to be able to get outside and train anywhere.

For insanely strong tiny cordage, the magic search term is "UHMWPE" 3mm should be about ideal for this. Usually speargun line or pro kite string. 2mm can be over 1/2 ton rating. Not cheap, but still cost effective if you have other uses for the remainder of a 50-100' coil. As for the magic clip, check camping and/or climbing gear. There are a few sliding/locking adjusters out there, though I'm not sure if any rated that high are quite that tiny. If you're less concerned about packing into the grips (or if you like bigger grips that can handle it) search for "mule tape" used for pulling cables through conduit. Weight ratings in tons for a flat braid under an inch wide.

you can make use of a 2nd small length of paracord and use a prusik knot to adjust height

Wow, I didn't know Monkii Bars themselves asked you to do the DIY build. That's pretty cool that they'd promote DIY when they sell a (very expensive) version of it themselves. That actually makes me more likely to buy from them instead of making it myself. I might actually get the MB2s because of it and just make my own set of MBs since the MB2s won't be out till after Xmas. My thought was that I could use some cheap bicycle handlebars (~$10 on Amazon) and just saw the ends off those to use as handles. Then I could get handlebar end plugs ($1-5 per pair on Amazon) and handlebar tape to make it a bit more comfortable. Then some paracord and adjusters, and done.

Yeah, Monkii Bars is an awesome group of people. The DIY versions are great, but my goodness the MB2's are righteous! I did a review of them here if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZapoZZvet1_jKc

you can also order an extra line and adjuster from Monkii Bars on Amazon for $25. That gets you the cable and the fancy clip/adjuster/thing.
@GarageGymReviews
@GarageGymReviews 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they just recently started doing that. A pretty good idea although a bit more costly than a locking carabiner.

Oh I agree. Just thought I would throw that out there for anybody who wasn't concerned about keeping costs super low, but who didn't want to spend $150 on the official Monkii bars. You can get the proprietary cable and adjuster clip for $25, then use the pvc or some other type of material for the handle and still only spend $35 or $40 compaired to $150. I forgot to mention, awesome job! Those DIY Monkii bars look pretty sharp!

Cool video. I'm going to make the same thing but with 2" PVC. The fatter grip feels better on my joints for some reason. Maybe its weight distribution? Anyway thanks for sharing!

and you can get two of the stainless steel ones for $14 (not SUPER cheap, but really easily adjusted and still way, way cheaper than the full-quality Monkii Bars). www.fishbonefish.com/original-fish-bone-stainless-steel-w-5-paracord/

Oh! And to get that nice wood grip, you could totally use laminate wood flooring pieces, soak them in hot water, curl them around the bars, and then permanently glue them on.
