I also want to do a DYS Box Truck build, one ruff idea I wanted was a three to four foot in the box work space that is not part of the living space. So, I have been thinking about adding the extra space I want as work space to add on to the size of the box truck.

Totally doable esp if it’s just for one person! Every great feat starts with an idea ;)

Nice looking door. Do you run your truck at night so you can stay warm?

There’s no pass through on this build so no but you’ll see we have a diesel heater and the mini split with a heat pump

Great series as I'm thinking about building a similar vehicle. I have an electrical question, I understand why you went with a 48 volt system to save on wire but was wondering about why have any 110 volts components as you have to constantly switch on/off the inverter to use it and also suffer the built in inefficient energy losses. What's more efficient and/or cost effective having 120 volt system and stepping it down to 12 volt for "a few" 12 volt appliances or having a 12 volt system and using an inverter to step up to "a few" 120 volt appliances?

The growatt has a mppt solar charge controller built in so the unit needs to stay on at least during the day. In our van we had the victron multiplus 3000 setup to turn on and off. So we have had both setups and really like the growatt on all of the time. We have both fridges on 120v so it offset the idle consumption on the growatt. Not a big fan of the 12v plugs for example charging our laptop the power brick is 140watt and made to be plugged into 120 so we can get full use of it. The USB C outlets you can get are maxed out at 60 watts. I like having 120v plugs instead of 12v but we do have a few things that run on 12v. Not really sure if one is more efficient than the other. Hope that helps.

They have not come out yet. We are releasing one every Sunday. We have not finished editing all of them but I think there will be 14 total. Thanks for watching!
