DIY PS4 Controller Remap Kit - But Does It Work? Sometimes DIY remap kits can be a bit sketchy so when eXtremeRate contacted me about doing a video about their kit I was very interested to see what their kits were like. In this video I install the remap kit on a second generation PS4 controller according to the instructions provided and show you how it all works out.

Lunar312 that would be nice. I do know the big thing with this controller is having replaceable sticks, so I’m wondering if they went for cheaper parts. One of mine is getting worse every use lol
@kaimatt782
@kaimatt782 4 жыл бұрын
I’ve taken one all the way apart already multiple times because I first took the rumblers out cause they were so heavy and I hate the vibration so they were off anyway. Then my wired/wireless switch broke and it couldn’t go in wired mode so I had to use solder and solder it just so it would work. But I just kept having problems with it and contacted Astro and let them know. I sent it in and they told me mine was defective from when I first got it and sent me a new one. And also if you keep getting stick drift or anything they will replace the module no problem but I’ve went through so many I messed with them. I figured out if you get a t6 screw driver and tighten the screws on the module every once in a while the stick drift problem will go away. I believe the screws just get loose and cause the spring in the analog stick to not work right and returning it to its resting position

I did this myself 2 days ago. I've soldered some guitar wiring recently, but not soldered a chip board for about 15 years. I did it all through the instructions and their youtube video. It worked first time apart from the fact I forgot to plug the light bar back in -_-. But otherwise this is a really cool kit, it works, it feels very nice and it's a fraction of the cost of a scuf controller. Definitely recommend

Coming from someone that has installed this product, it's worth it, but it wasn't without issues. I want to point out that he insinuated you wouldn't need the ribbon cable if you didn't want to remap the touch board or L3 and R3, that's incorrect, you need the ribbon cable regardless, just no soldering needs to be done if you didn't want to remap those 3. Back to the issues... 1) The foil provided to activating remapping is junk. It is heat sensitive and will activate remap mode out of no where a lot. Fortunately you can cut it off and just use L1, R1, down, and X to activate and disable remap mode. 2) As he mentioned it is a tight fit, too tight for my controller where it was causing issues with my buttons even with the screws a little loose, I fixed this by not worrying about the LED hole and moving the board all the way down where there is more space. Just know it takes about 5 seconds to start and stop remap mode and about the same when remapping the buttons. I can actually still see the glow of the led when looking in the hole even though it's about a half inch lower than the hole so it still works in a way. Hope this helps guys.

Absolutely worth every penny though my controller sticks are knackered and drifting badly, so I'll be transfering it to a new controller soon. one thing I will say though is be sure to cut off the heat sensitive foil especially if you have hot hands like I do or the remap function with just keep activating on its own while gaming.

This is so cool, I'll give this a try. Way cheaper than a modded controller.

Awesome videos, thank you for the all your help. I only wonder how comfortable these buttons feel to use compared to the fps strikepack paddles position. It's only 2 buttons but the placement in my opinion is perfect.

@slickrasta I really love the original PS4 controller so this mod would be fantastic as it adds that "pro" controller functionality but seems like a nice middle ground instead of having to buy a really expensive C40 TR or similar which have their downsides. Thanks for the chance to win one, I really enjoy your videos!
