Good job Ron. As soon as you showed us the hanger trick, you had my thumbs up! You probably saved yourself and anyone else that follows $500 or more. I admit that I am intimidated to try soldering in my walls, so the SharkBite fittings are a great alternative. I am not a licensed plumber and I approve this video.

Glad I found this video. I butchered my old shower valve trying to drill out a stuck Moen cartridge and put some scratches in the brass that now leaves me with a constant leak. I have been dreading the thought of replacing it myself but didn’t want to pony up $1000 or more to get a plumber in to do the job. I had never seen Sharkbite before but you made it look very manageable. I can do this!

I was really skeptical of tge PEX line back around 10 years ago before I helped run all the plumbing in a multipurpose building for a Bible camp. I was amazed at how simple PEX made the process & now Shark Bites are even easier without the need for any special tools. And you're right you might not be a "real" plumber, & when you're talking about water & the risk of causing thousands or tens of thousands of dollars of damage & mold abatement due to a bad solder joint keeping your ego in check & knowing your skills & limitations is vital.
