Tools are my favorite part of Sci Fi, I think I like the tools more than the weapons. In LIGHTYEAR, at the part when time dilation is being explained to Buzz, in the background is a guy working at a toolbox and I think "man, I just wanna be that guy." As cool as it'd be to be something like a Space Ranger or a Jedi, the hero... I just wanna be that guy fixing ships or building pod racers lol. The building something from nothing I love, I enjoy just making something cool from random junk. Lol. My favorite books to use for inspiration are the art books from LIGHTYEAR, Jedi Fallen Order, Halo Infinite, Halo 4, Fallout 3/4, and Alien Isolation.

One recommendation, and it is by no means a criticism. It would’ve been cool if at the end of the torch pipe you would’ve put a flickering flame from a LED candle in it. It’s still 3 V and it would have a look like it was operating inside of the tube.

Another Fantastic video to add to my fan film Resources list! This will come in handy for two scenes I have specifically. A garage scene and a forensics crime scene, both need appropriate tools for those jobs so this is a Fantastic source of Inspiration! It's no easy task writing a script for a fan series when I've never done it before! So obviously its taking longer and I want it to be a Good story. But I'm onto my Second Draft now, trimming the fat, making a fee changes for efficiency, pacing etc. And @The Smugglers Room I'm even for Fun, writing a scene with You and Your Wife in your full Mandalorian costumes and makes use of your builds as your ship interior! The likelihood of that ever happening is Slim to None, but I'm writing it Anyways. I have 5 YT host personalities on board for their roles and would like to include others in this Fan Series project. The scene I have for Smugglers Room is aiding New Republic Municipal Law Enforcement in getting kidnapped Younglings back to their families and home Planets. A Cameo really, a few minutes of screen time, in and out. There are 40 younglings, various species aside from human and a bunch of "Hired Transports" will be needed to facilitate the kids being homeward bound and the Smugglers Room Mandos are One of the Hired ships and crews. Its among a handful of scenes throughout the series of 12 episodes where I can fit in a bunch of cameos, background cameos, that kinda thing. Where YT personalities come into play is in these cameos and tertiary roles. Like I have another host whom I've already drawn for fun whom I will ask to play a small role here and there as the Star Wars equivalent of a Radio DJ because his voice is Radio Perfect and it goes well with my chosen soundtrack music. So IF this Dumb Idea becomes a Reality you won't need to make Anything New prop, set or Costume wise as you've Already made it all amd are making so much more to boot! Why am I doing this? Well Disney has disappointed everywhere and let us all down and part of me wants very much to show them how it's done properly. But I Also wanna tell a Good Story most of all and i Know i can't do it Alone. So many of us Star Wars fans have the merch, or Make all the Costuming and Props...but what we Don't Have is Many if at all Opportunities to make USE of these things we make, build amd grow. We ALL wanna BE in, visit or just Play in that universe and we have since 1977. So LET'S ALL DO THAT HERE. When TLJ came out and Tanked, wrenched the franchise and damaged the Brand I went Looking for WHY and I found the Likes of The Smugglers Room, Echo Base Network, XWing, Valliant Renegade and others. Fans who Understood that something was Waaaaay OFF and it Inspired me. This 12 episode series started off as something completely different. I wanted to join the 501st as a Patroltrooper after that New stormtrooper variant came out in SOLO. Terrible film, Great trooper costume design. I LOVED it right away. But like any time I come up with a Costume a Character begins to design itself in my head. Next thing I knew I was watching Smugglers Room and XRobots when a Dumb Idea broke open. A Money Making Attraction for the 501st Legion to raise money for charity. A Shooting gallery for Nerf guns and the Gallery made up of Toys, vehicles and Figures, a Target Shooting Collapsible Diorama. That way Convention attendees could Roleplay as "Trainees" and Tryout via the range. This led me to thinking about Miniatures and Bigatures, toys, models and such for Low Budget films and shows. I remembered classic Star Trek and Doctor Who. How the Great Storytelling made you FORGET Completely about how Poor the Practical and Special Effects were. Like the 4th Doctor story The Ark in Space had a man transforming into a Space Insect. Part of his transformation the make up crew had to make his left hand look like it had been covered in some form bubbly cocoon, green and slimy. They spray painted Bubble with Green Paint and gave it a nice coating of warmed up KY Jelly or Vaseline. It WORKED quite effectively and you don't realize its Plastic Bubble wrap because the camera doesn't linger and the Actor is pretending to be in Pain over what's happening to his body. But BUBBLE WRAP and a little paint and Vaseline made the Gag WORK. Suspension of DISBELIEF achieved with clever angles, Acting and Paced Editing. Suddenly that Motorized Toy of an AT-AT is a Prop Vehicle for a Street Scene made form Plastic, Cardboard, Dollar store String lights and Paint...I can Doctor Who FX streetscapes of all kinds, no computers just a lot of Gkue, hours and effort using Common Household materials. Then I Dared to share the story idea that had perked up. One where Every Fan Available could Get their Costuming and Props materials together and we could Actually Film our Own Star Wars Adventure for FUN. So that's what I'm doing Smugglers Room. Onto the 2nd draft now. If you Like the idea of You and your Wife having a Cameo where All of your Work can be Used PRACTICALLY...keep an eye out for the time Will come soon when I will Seriously Ask if youd like to appear in a small part in my fan series.

These don't seem like SW props to me. They don't look like they are tools FOR anything, and so they don't appear to be tools at all. They do look like exactly what they are: a bunch of random EARTH hardware store connectors stuck together in a line. While SW does have lots of junk piles laying about, those aren't presented as "tools", they are presented as trash, and look like it. Part of the problem is that we are all already familiar with everything we can find inside the same big hardware & home improvement centers, because they all have the same stuff and we've seen it there for decades. Why not visit the tool crib in those stores instead, to determine what separates "objects that look like tools" from "objects that look like improvised clubs made from modern plumbing hardware that will be lying about in a post-apocalypse"? The former will look like a sci-fi SW tool prop, the latter will look like an Earth-bound Mad Max or zombie outbreak movie melee weapon prop. Even in SW, tools should seem like there's SOME kind of handle on them; even the early light sabers were from camera flash handles. The life-form MUST have something obvious to hold onto that won't destroy their hands if it's used for very long, AND that is reality-true for actors who must use the prop! Then the "tool" prop would need to have *some* kind of "business end", that would be "point this at the thing" tip. We can all tell which end of a hot glue gun that is, or a letter-opener, or even a can opener. And then some volume on the prop for a "power source" and maybe a "readout scale". It would really help the design to determine in advance what the tool would be FOR in a Star Wars scene. Who would use it, in what way would it be used, how will the audience tell what's going on with that thing? Is the design too ambiguous? Will the audience think the tool is being used for something ELSE that could ruin their enjoyment of the story, or create misunderstandings of the state of the plot?
@TheSmugglersRoom Жыл бұрын
Interesting feedback. It’s always fun to be told what you make looks like “trash.” Guess we’ll head over to your KZbin channel to see how we should build better. I’m sure based on your long description on how we failed we can learn something there.

@@TheSmugglersRoom That's not what I said, that's not a fair characterization of what I meant, and that's not fair to me. I'm not some random troll. My feedback is both constructive and helpful. I don't need to become a KZbinr before my opinion starts to have merit. I'm not in some kind of props making contest against you. That was an illogical, needlessly defensive, ad hominem statement. My suggestions are easy to implement and well within your reach, and would create a big "bang for your buck". I made no demands that you accept any of these ideas, and I had no intent to hurt your feelings.

I was wondering when a "Kevin" would spout his non-existant expertise and criticize others who actually make things, instead of just talking about making things. Brian, Carissa, ignore the the haters, there's so few of them and know not of that which they run their mouth.
@AceFrahm Жыл бұрын
@@jediknightjairinaiki560 Your statement is slanderous. You provide negative characterization but you don't actually engage with the substance of anything I wrote. It isn't good to interpret every comment on the internet in the most negative light possible.
