This build is killer. For future videos of built boards, can you guys also put a list of all the parts? P. S.: I am currently looking into installing some li-po's on my wowgo 2, but I'm not sure of the esc would handle them. Any advice?
@skatemetric627
@skatemetric627 6 жыл бұрын
Sure. We'll try to update the description with parts links, but keep in mind that this is not a very complete build. And you'll need a new ESC if you want to utilize the higher output lipo batteries can provide because the WowGo's is programmed with current limits that (as far as we know) can't be easily altered.

Also another suggestion. I think it would be useful to test the brakes of boards the same way you test acceleration. Let's say from 20mph how long it takes to come to a complete stop. It is an important feature to be able to stop in time

*Thank you for making this video!!* I know I've made the right choice when I ordered the exact same kit from DIYeboard. I'm planning to add the 2 VESCs too

as far as I know, you can make your own motor mounts that will be able to adjust the belt tension (so you don't wear belts very fast). I am looking for a cheap good dual vesc, but I guess I just have to shell out 200$ for 2 vesc's
@tuan.hoang_
@tuan.hoang_ 6 жыл бұрын
I have neither tools nor skills to make one myself :( Cheap does not usually go along with good sadly. Most VESCs are around $100/each

Nice video! Thump up deserved. But could you make more in depth video about this cool board? Like how you connected everything, how you configured your vesc's, how you handled the two vescs etc :) Keep up the good work!

@SkateMetric I’d like to make an electric shortboard and use 2 6s lipos for a 12s board. What esc would be appropriate for this?

cool review, but the comparision between DIY vs RIPTIDE has one crucial spec that wasn´t mentioned. riptide has 6s voltage battery and the diy has 10s voltage, so the diy will be more fast.

SkateMetric i am sorry, i commented the wrong video hahaha , i was talking about the meepo vs riptide x diy video. but anyway, this video make me think. why has this kit has more kick than , let´s say, riptide since both has the same dual motor specs (this is what a think). is it because lipos vs "standard low quality" lithium batteries that comes with riptide or the VESC vs "standard low quality" ESC that comes with riptide?
@skatemetric627
@skatemetric627 6 жыл бұрын
@@xpolentaedgex the batteries are much higher discharge and the ESC is configured to utilize them.

Yeah - I doubt they would send one. They along with metroboard are probably the top short production boards on the market. (the new boosted too, if you dont mind going only 18-20mph).

Scott Tarlow I don't really mind going only 18-20 MPH on a 30" board. I like having the option to go a little faster, but then I have to step up my safety gear, and that kinda defeats the purpose of a smaller board. Torque is a bigger concern for me. I'd really like to get my hands on an Arc board at some point though.
@Scotttarlow
@Scotttarlow 6 жыл бұрын
thats a really good point, I don't know if you have ridden an inboard since the update, but the torque on the alieron is better than that, but probably not as good as most dual belt setups. The riptide's torque is trash though, mostly because of its battery.

I prefer hub motors by a lot. Belts might be more comfortable to ride, but they are insanely loud and can't be pushed as easily as a regular board. Hub motors are quiet and can be pushed very easily.

Sure, if you ride in an area with no hills. I'll take the torque of the belt motor any day, because 80% of my commute is hills, all of them in excess of 15 degrees.
