Omg that 2:28 is stunning and I normally shy away from reds. Wowza!

Aww, thank you. Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of red either but when you make enough jackets you eventually get to red in the rainbow. 🌹🥰🎨🧥🧵

The tule is a great way to make these patterns work. Thank you.

Duh, I’m really old and it never occurred to me that they were covering up the pattern mismatches with the patch pockets. Thanks for this great information. I next want more info on matching sleeve caps.
@PerfectJacket7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yep matching sleeves it tricky. You match the pattern at the sleeve/torso notches and don't match it at the edge of the fabric, match it at torso seam line to sleeve seam line.
@NinaKeilin7 ай бұрын
Thanks I know about matching at the seam line but I still think there is a ton of adjustment needed to even make that work. How do you get back and front of sleeve to match across. Please do a video!

I will! 🥰🧥

Thanks I am sitting on a wonderful wool mohair blend for years since I’m afraid! And I am a very experienced seamstress. I live in NYC and I can shop at all the good stores.

Lovely video, thanks! My large bust (US L/UK J) is one of the reasons why I started sewing. And somehow it always comes down to performing some higher math (and prayer) LOL!

Glad you enjoyed it. I was looking at jacket patterns the other day and noticed a new one for the larger bust. Butterick Pattern B6822 Women's Jacket, Dress & Top with C/D, DD, DDD, G, H Cup Sizes. Looks like a good one.

I haven't done this, but since you have mentioned how loosely woven tweed is, I'm thinking of trying to reweave across the bust-line.
@PerfectJacket11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I would pull apart my tweed but it is quite easy to drape it and then reshape it before you actually cut out each pattern piece.
@lujadosyning11 ай бұрын
@PerfectJacket mostly, I agree, but as a weaver, I think unpicking a small area around the join and reweaving it to smooth the transition might be an interesting workaround. My bust is way bigger than a D cup, so I have to come up with something because no pattern really fixes the issue for me.
@PerfectJacket11 ай бұрын
Well, you might as well experiment!

I’m a d cup and I’m using a princess seam for mine. If I want to pattern match, it has been suggested that I would focus the matching at the shoulder and neckline. It’s just not going match as the shape diverges. The boucle I’m using know doesn’t have a repeat. Mine has a shoulder princess but I just fitted an armscye princess and may try making it into one at some point.

It's awesome when you find the patterns that work for you. It took me ages to find just the right ones for me.

How do you feel about buckram for the structural layer
@PerfectJacket2 ай бұрын
I know many people really prefer buckram (English/mens bespoke suits) to stiff netting (Paris/women's designer fashion) but I like the lightness and strength of netting. Both work. It's just what you prefer.
@incantations4462 ай бұрын
@@PerfectJacket thanks. I’ve never used either of them. Just exploring options. Thanks for the feedback.

Loving your channel and your work. Question: what are you using as the interlining for the tweed jackets? It looks like mesh or tulle if you don’t mind sharing. Thanks
@PerfectJacket Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I use petticoat netting for the structural layer. English fashion tends to use horse hair canvas, Paris design houses and opera and ballet costumes tend to favor netting. It weighs less but is as durable. My playlist 'Just Jackets' has a few different step by step 'make a jacket' videos.

@@PerfectJacket THANK YOU! I’ll watch out. I’m a new subscriber and am going back through your videos. Love Love love your jackets and I really want to make blazers. I have a lot to learn to get anywhere near what you are pushing…they are 🔥🔥🔥 and the layer cake dresses are 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I was in UK last September but I didn’t knit of you then 😞😞. I was in Luton. They took me fabric shopping but nothing like what I’m seeing. I have recently been to Brazil and have found really nice tweed there.. you’re on a totally different dimension😂😂 thank you for responding

I saw some other videos using organza fabric instead of netting... What are your ideas about that?
@whatnow8362 Жыл бұрын
I only have about 1m of wool fabric. Do you think I could squeeze out a jacket like this?
@PerfectJacket Жыл бұрын
t's quite easy to lay the fabric out and try the pattern pieces on it. Maybe crop the bodice and sleeves to fit.
@sandie4yeshua2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I cannot find netting on Amazon. What is the netting called?
@PerfectJacket2 жыл бұрын
It's called net, netting or petticoat netting. You can buy it at a fabric store like Joann or from Mood Fabrics online or a local store that stocks dance costumes. 🧥🧵
