Is there a video that covers exactly how to make this gun? Cheers
@ArmouryEnterprises2 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, There are a couple more video of these guns, but none that are a step by step. I usually use the lathe to build mine and had intended to sit down and film step by step the build process without using the lathe, but never got around to it. There is more info in the build guide on my website. Cheers! Josh

@@ArmouryEnterprises thanks Josh I’ve since bought your plans and made myself my own gun, works great! The finish I’m getting is pretty good but it’s not as bright as expected. More like a factory matte grey which is great for some things. Any suggestion to get that bright sheen finish on aluminium? Higher pressure, more glass to water ratio? Any thoughts Cheers

What pressure are you blasting at, and what media are you using?
@Daniel_Martin1522 жыл бұрын
@@ArmouryEnterprises I’m using “Inda” glass bead (306-106) at about 75psi. Using a 6mm ceramic nozzle that’s supplied with the cabinet. Using a brass y strainer gun
@ArmouryEnterprises2 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel_Martin152 Try dropping your pressure to 45psi for a second pass and see how that goes, if it doesn't solve the problem, swap out your beads for some AC (250-150 micron) or AD (212-106 Micron). I would also recommend going up to the 7mm ceramic. Let me know how you go.

In this video, I had about 18 litres of water to a little more than half a 2 litre ice cream container of media. The media I use is glass bead with a grade of AC. Full disclosure I haven't spent that much time tweaking the levels but that is what seemed to work for me. Hope this helps.

Just a random idea, have you tried having the slurry fed at a higher rate. Maybe by using a seperate agitation pump and having the main one do just the gun it might work better with less air/ finer air jet?
@exogator4 жыл бұрын
Also in regards to the nozzle I enquired about. It's a bit steep for me to buy at the moment as I'm just getting a feel for wether I will enjoy doing this and if there's enough demand. But down the track if I do get good at it I will defiantly keep you in mind when getting a new gun. Plus who knows how much more performance you get from them by the that time. :)

Hi What do you find to be the ideal nozzle size and what cfm compressor do you use ?
@ArmouryEnterprises4 жыл бұрын
I generally match the nozzle and air jet orifice to the compressor size. My compressor is rated at around 12 CFM and I find it is really too small. I found the best setup to match this compressor is a 2.5mm air jet orifice, and 8mm ceramic tip. Thanks for watching!

@@ArmouryEnterprises I have seen people do complete motorcycle engines , just blocking off inlet and exhaust ports. Hopefully not enough pressure to go through gaskets ?
@ArmouryEnterprises4 жыл бұрын
It's possible, but I wouldn't advise it. I have heard mixed reviews. Some have said it is fine, other have said they have wrecked engines. From my experience, the media gets everywhere. I would be skeptical about doing complete engines personally. Oddly enough, vapour blasting tends not to damage soft surfaces.

Why do the nozzles have two inlets? Is one media and the other water? I can't figure it out.
@ArmouryEnterprises6 жыл бұрын
The side inlet allows the slurry mixture to be fed into the chamber in the body of the gun. The rear inlet has air pumped through it which draws slurry from the chamber and accelerates it through the nozzle and onto the part
@gavinoliver80746 жыл бұрын
@@ArmouryEnterprises ahh I see. I didn't realise there was air pumped into it. So a large capacity compressor is needed too. I'm trying to calculate the costs to make one as this would be perfect for my restoration and motorcycle spares business. So the main costs are the tank, pump, compressor, nossel, pipework?
@ArmouryEnterprises6 жыл бұрын
@@gavinoliver8074 Yes that is correct. You need to really be around the 25 to 30cfm mark before you can work continuously and not have to wait for the reciever to refill. They are perfect for motorcycle restoration. If that is your business/hobby then you probably have all the skill you need to make a useable setup. I built one pretty much for free out of scrap so the more you are willing to spend, the better the setup

@@gavinoliver8074 a good way to clean bike parts ( bare aluminum ) is to use a metal tub with Hot purple power ..
