I clicked on this video because we wanted to cover our guest bathroom with the peel and stick flooring, but I work with resin and I might use it for that room as well! Right now I have cardboard covering the floor, lol, mainly because I didn't care since no one really goes in there but me.

This is a great option if you work with Resin… because they are fairly easy to remove, they are inexpensive enough that you don’t feel bad replacing one, and you do have to be ”careful” while your working with your Resin (like you would with more expensive/permanent flooring)… Glad you watching, and I hope it was helpful!

Just finally got done... I had to come reply.😅 Was a horrible experience due to uneven, wavy floors.😵 The tiles dont want to lay and bunt up flat or square unless the floor itself is completely flat and even. I have an old house. I could have tried an underlayment, but no one needs a monday morning quarterback. 🙃 I am laying over 3 different types of hardwood, so probably shoulda laid a sub-floor actually, but wanted to cut out some work and paid for it in the end for sure. Had to replace some tiles when they popped up. Shaved and sanded wood in some spots and had to glue down other spots. The walls were simple, until you hit a corner. That was a big pain in the @$$ honestly. The whole job took an hour for an almost 300sq foot room, even with my wife and I having never done it before, BUT AND ITS A BIG BUTT, LOL 😆 It took Days and a ton of frustration for us to finish up our edges and we have a ton of cuts, in and out corners on the walls. So in short i would say if you have a flat floor and a square room, do it. Anything else, screw that noise 😆 Carpet, tiles and grout or a full sheet of vinly next time for me.👍 I may try resin epoxy for my basement tho. 🤔 I have seen some super awesome ideas. Thanks for the video. 🙏

@@Nelson4207 Oh wow 😯 That does sound exceedingly complicated... you are better than me, because if I ran into that many challenges, I would have scrapped the whole thing an just bought a massive rug hahahaha. I can attest that that corners (and in my case around the doorway) suck! Well it sounds like you’ve got some equally exciting projects on the horizon... Best Of Luck! And if you haven’t already, consider recording that Epoxy project... you might save me some heartburn since I’ve thought about laying Epoxy in my garage but have NO idea how! Thank you for the vid...started doing this yesterday in the living room and hallway. Had the laminate, but with dogs--NOT a great thing they spill water and such. I tore it out and lived with a stained slab for a couple of years. I did peel and stick in the bathroom a couple of years ago, grouted those, they still look alright. But, this time no grout and I was trying to figure out how to do the staggered pattern with the planks--THANK YOU for the simple explanation. The "installation guide" that came with the flooring was not a real help, seeing you lay it out was by far better and you kept it simple. And, you are soooo right about those knees...getting up this morning was like NOOOOOOOOOOOO. :(
@DetroneDoesIt

Thank you for watching! I’ve had laminate as a renter and I would say this peel and stick is a durable and cost efficient (plus it looks better). I actually told my wife I wanted to stay away from anything that required grout or sealing so this worked out great. My wife was actually the one to simplify the staggering process, and in hindsight it made the process much easier to execute. So how is the living room/hallway turning out so far? I’m glad you got my knee pad PSA and save yourself some future knee pain

It's very important that you 1) snap chalk lines or otherwise measure guidelines to the middle of the room and start from the center, not from one edge. 2) lay out your planks first with the backing still attached to make sure you don't end up with any skinny strips or pieces on one side less than 6", or have the whole pattern be skewed/off center 3) use an appropriate primer for proper adhesion on your subfloor (plywood or osb) for the installation to last, otherwise the pieces will peel up with time. All of this would have been in the instructions that came with the flooring...
@DetroneDoesIt
@DetroneDoesIt Жыл бұрын
All of that sounds like solid advice… #1 & #2 I agree with completely, measuring from the center and laying your tiles out in advance would likely ensure a more evenly executed installation. I differ in opinion on #3, specifically for my situation… I wanted the floor to adhere but I didn’t want to add work nor make them become difficult to remove (incase my wife spills resin and I need to replace one). For my particular set up it’s worked great, they’ve been installed directly to the concrete for a little over 2 years and I haven’t have a single one lift, move or peel up. Thanks for watching and thanks for the tips, I’m sure viewers will find them helpful.

Bruh, that looks great. How big is the room, and about how long did it take? Our kitchen and living room has some hideous tile and grout work from the previous owners and we've been looking into installing peel and stick planks over them. Hoping to knock it out in an upcoming weekend
@DetroneDoesIt
@DetroneDoesIt 2 жыл бұрын
That room is approximately 10x12, and after I got the room cleared it took approximately 4 hours but that was largely due to me not knowing exactly what I was doing… plus working around the doorway took a bit of time. It’s held up very well even in the humidity. The only concern I would have with placing it over tile would be if your tiles sweat when it gets humid, that might be the only real concern with them sticking and staying put. I hope it goes great for you… I’d love to hear how it turns out.

@@DetroneDoesIt totally will keep you updated! we plan to fill in the grout dips to even out the flooring to prevent any sinking. We'll also probably reinforce the bottoms with some extra adhesive so that it's much more stuck in place. I don't think our tiles sweat but hopefully the extra adhesive will prevent any issues. We'll make sure to lay these down when it's dry af outside and inside the house (it's been raining a lot this week). We have seen a lot of uses cases where people lay these over tile and they still hold up extremely well over two years. More to come!
