This recipe looks great and super simple! I greatly appreciate that you have broken it down into cup measurements and such as I do not use grams. Thank you Steve 😊!!!

Thank you for this! My son and I are artists and this is a great way to make clay for him

Nice clay. Others have substituted dishwashing liquid for the glycerin and vinegar for the bleach. It looks like there was minimal shrinkage to your batch.

How does it work out cost wise Steve compared to a slab of air dry clay?

Love it! I’ve been using a recipe from an artist named jonni good. Very similar, it uses mineral or baby oil as well. Thanks for another option to try.

I've made a similar clay, but it's not as smooth as yours, but I use it for rough construction (I make all kinds of fairy stuff). The recipe is on youtube, but I can't remember the name of the channel - it's by a lady who makes these really awesome papier mache animals. For details, I use a cold porcelain, which is so great for making tiny fairies and for smooth surfaces of bigger stuff. It's pva glue and corn starch, with some oil and vinegar, and it dries rock solid (but requires microwaving). It's by another youtuber, but again, I can't remember the channel, I need to look it up. I used to do a lot of stuff with polymer clay, but it's so expensive for bigger things, and looks too artificial. And the home made air dry clays are way better than the store bought stuff.

This is very intriguing, definitely want to try this. I wonder how it would do under resin and if it's liable to crack easily. I've never really had good results with air dry clay.

Ok. Question. Can you use gypsum instead of joint compound?
@carlycharlesworth14972 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recipe Steve. I thought with joint compound in it, it might harden up in the bags and become unusable. Has that ever happened to you? Thanks for an interesting video. I hope your uncle enjoyed using those dominos. God bless you and all of your loved ones, now and always.

It can't harden as long as it is wrapped up artight.

I make white porcelain clay but I don’t use any paper in it at all…. I use just white pva glue, corn starch, a tablespoon of lemon juice (I’m allergic to bleach) and a little bit of hand lotion…. Just knead it until it’s no longer sticky… I add a little corn starch as I need to, to get the stickiness out… I have made the same thing you just did but used newspaper instead of the toilet paper,,,, i wish I had used the toilet paper since it’s white…. My newspaper clay is a light - medium grey… I made the coolest penguin door stop with it!

Is that without joint compound ?

Love the idea but I’m so lazy but at least I know how to do it. Can you add colour to the clay or does it have to dry then paint please Steve. Thanks for taking time to show us

Hi Steve, I'm an independent craft demonstrator/instructor in the north east and I was wondering if you ever give permission for people like myself to use your recipes and ideas. I would give full disclosure and point everyone in the direction of your channel.

It's a good thing you didn't make this video during the beginning of the pandemic. You would have gotten a lot of backlash about wasting toilet paper during the crisis! Did you have a big panic about toilet paper shortage in your part of the world, or was that just us stupid, panicky Americans? I never understood that. Why buy up so much toilet paper? Unbelievable. I'm going to try this some day. Not buying up all the toilet paper I can get my hands on lol. When my life gets back to a bit of normalcy, and I have time to relax & do more of what I want to do. Thanks!
