DIY Winch mount bumper

Out of all the videos I watched on mounting a winch on the front of a van yours helped me the most! This is what I'm getting ready to try doing, the only thing different is my van is a Chevy Express 2500. Guys like us have to work with what we got, especially those of us with a tight budget. Out of all the stuff I have worked on welding is the one thing I have not done much of in my 58 years even though I have two different small new welders and the basic gear to go along with using them. My van is a 2 wheel drive, and my place is on a slight incline and gets muddy pretty often. I do have a lot of sturdy trees around to tie off on if I can manage to get this winch mounted up. You going to put rollers on for your winch line

Most fairleads don't use rollers anymore. You can see my fairlead right behind the opening of the bumper. It guides the rope in safely.

@@FrugalOffGrid know problem it was a good video my kind of build I've got a 97 ram 1500 short bed regular cad I'm going to do something similar as you did have few pieces of metal laying around video help me get a idea of what I want to do

Oh great job John, but now you need to paint the front of your van, of course, when you start doing something with something, you end up going crazy to make it all look great.... I'm sure you just need to wash it.... 😆

Be careful with the electronics of your van John! When you weld, disconnect the battery. Knowing that nothing ended up burned: congrats! A winch is a huge help in difficult situations...
