Building a smartphone wooden speaker. I turned a 4ft oak board into a passive speaker for my phone. When you place the phone in the speaker, the sound is noticeably richer and louder. The speaker is made up of four- 9 1/2 oak boards with two-2 1/2 inch holes drilled in them. I also used a scroll saw to router out two channels in one of the boards to allow the sound to come out. Hope you enjoy!
Materials-
-Oak 1 by 6 board (4ft long)
-Minwax Red Mahogany Stain
-Spray polyurethane

Just a tip, Chad: A holesaw like that suffers from lack of chip dispersal. That's what causes burning and dulling. My solution: Score your work with the saw and then drill 3 (or so) 3/8" holes just inside or just outside the score (making sure you intersect the score), depending which piece you want to save. Now drill it, slowly, and the chips will fall through the holes. Drilling 3/4 of the way through the board and then inverting it for the finish cut makes removing the plug much easier. I like your simple design and the care you took with the details.

Great video! Thanks for sharing the idea and "how to" without moving the camera all over and making this video 30 minutes long. I love watching "how to" videos that are done as well as you did this one and equally informative.

That DIY sanding mop is brilliant!! I can't believe I never thought of that. How much time I've spent trying to sand a shape like that by hand or with a dowel! AAARRRG!

This looks like a great project but newbies like me will need a little more directions. Specially on those cut in the middle for the speaker. Dimensions and angle of cut. Other than than it looks easy.

Lol. So in order to make a DYI speaker you need to own some obviously expensive tools. I was looking into how to do something like that, thanks for the ideas!

Finally someone who has all the same shitty tools as me, making something beautiful. Get tired of seeing the $3000 table saw next to the $4000 bandsaw. Nice job. Gonna make one of these.

Love the comment! I used to get a lot of hate for having so many "expensive" tools. But now so many guys on youtube have all the big money tools...I am just the average guy again.

You can technically do this using a normal handsaw, a cheap $5 holesaw and a drill, file, and sandpaper. $2 spray paint. Would take a little more time but this is an easy project ;p
