Thanks Phill, that's a varied bunch of tools, certainly some better than others, but at those prices you can't go far wrong ! I agree the trowel should clean up well, I can imagine it painted racing green with a nice oiled handle ! The Stanley cabinet screwdriver would have been painted black originally, they only stopped making them maybe ten years ago ! I think the old wooden chisel is probably a "Marples" they were a popular DIY chisel back in the day, I have a number of them, decent enough steel as you said, sadly the handles have often been abused, but you could always turn a new one if it's beyond repair ! If you haven't already, have a look at some of the videos about using a fibre wheel for restorations, they are a good interim between the wire wheel and sanding belts and a polishing wheel, very good for smoothing scratch marks and leave an acceptable finish for a user tool that is like a satin finish rather than high polish, which also means it doesn't leave finger prints !

Hi Phill can't go wrong with tools from the car boot sale, you can never get enough of Stanley knives 99E and 199 good knives, some times you can get better quality second hand hand tools than new ones, the car boot sale is the best place, most of my hand tools and power tools are from the local car boot sale. ive got a very similar wood plane thats made mostly out of wood and once you get used to em they are way better than any modern plane just make sure you sharpen em properly though and watch youtube videos on how to set em up bud and good video

Here in America we invented Automobiles and and yet no one over there seems to know the correct terms for the cars parts. And believe it ornot want to watch the rest of video if you can't get something Simple like far terminology right.
