Love love love! I do think three stacks of books with belts on the bench kind of defeats the purpose of having a bench... they do look good though. I 'd stick to one stack there, so a guest could sit or set their backpack on the bench. You have really inspired me!
@valgoodridge181011 ай бұрын
I agree, there needs to be a space for a suitcase. However the stacks of books could be easily belted up and put elsewhere when a guest arrives.
@emm752811 ай бұрын
Looks a bit like you've tied them down. Like to keep a toddler from tossing the books on the floor 😅 If the books were under the bench, it would make more sense to belt them. Or just around the books with the strap (or what the piece of belt that sticks out when closed is called) as a handle to easily lift them down when guests use the bench.

Dani, the room turned out great. The only thing I don't like is that chair next to the big chair and the big stack of books on it or the bench. I think you should swap the tables on either side of the bed and only have a small amount of books on the bench and only the lamp and small knick knacks on the chair. I say give it a try and see if you like it either way, it did turn out really nice.
@apopiel21211 ай бұрын
Came to say the same thing...also the books stacked on the chair are going to ruin the cane and it's not usable to guests. Just doesn't make sense.

My grandfather caned chairs as a hobby. When my father brought the chairs home, he used them as side tables. He preserved the caning by getting table tops cut out of acrylic panes matching the shape of the seat. It provides a solid foundation for the tabletop and let’s the natural beauty of the cane weave sign through.
@marshawargo723811 ай бұрын
I thought it looked unstable & maybe a large design book on the bottom would help. But your acrylic idea wouldn't take away from the ability to see the caning beauty ❤!

While I, too, loved the dark and moody version of this room, this new iteration is beautiful. More importantly, it is your vision. You are absolutely correct; tastes change over time. Maybe not all of them, but there is a shift that occurs. It is perfectly normal, not to mention acceptable, that our homes reflect those shifts, too. Great Job!

I liked the dark, but adore the light! The chifforobe is fantastic! I like the idea of the belts around the books...but for the guest room; three sets of books strapped to the bench has taken a great functional piece and made it all decor. As a guest I would want to sit on the bench to put on my shoes. And I would feel weird about taking a book out of the strap to look at it. I would use a couple of the larger design books to umph up the side table chair, more stable. I use large vintage glass ashtrays for bedside "storage" then you can find the little things (like chapstick) at the bedside in the dark without knocking them to the floor. LOVE Love the painted lamp!!

I love the idea of having a subtle pattern on that short wall… maybe stripes would work- too bad they couldn’t be wavy…. Love it! I will say that when she said she was doing the chair as an end table and called it, "unconventional" I laughed. Using a chair as an end table is a staple in the "I'm cheap/poor" design style.

I love the transformation and your ability to "do it all yourself" is amazing. I particularly love the treatment on the door and the chifforobe! I'm also knocked out by the teeny, tiny, half-round table - it's adorable! The stencils on the cane chair really make it unique - when you first started painting it, I thought it might look blah, but you added the stencils and the whole chair came to life. I think your idea of adding subtle stripes on the headboard wall would look really great. I'm a "light and airy" room person myself, so I think this room looks about a thousand times better. Thanks for sharing your talent and genius with us! Oh, yeah, I think I would put less books on the bench so that it would be more useful for sitting to put on/take off socks & shoes, place a purse or backpack down, that kind of thing.

Lovely transformation! My fave piece is the Kenobi lamp. So adorable! The only thing I would change is the placement of the chair end table, which is so pretty! You taking down the base plate of that original overhead light fixture HURT lol. I love that sun beam element. I do like the new globe though. I think a light colored stripe sounds absolutely perfect! (For some reason i see it in a pale blue) Also, I agree with other commenters about the books on the bench. Overall, this is a nice cozy and inviting room. The former incarnation of Moody is really my favorite. There's a couple of elements in the redo that just don't sit well with me, such as the chair crammed in next to the cozy chair and bed piled with books and the books strapped to the bench, which makes the bench absolutely unusable. I can't really compare the two rooms because they're totally different aesthetic. You are amazingly creative person and normally I love everything you do and I love your home. This is just not for me but that's okay. It's not for me. Wall paper on the chiffarobe looks absolutely beautiful. And wallpaper on the back of the door, What a fabulous idea. I never would have thought of this. It really adds so much to the white walls.
