How about you build a pole barn and use the metal roofing for roof and siding. It could be an open side for ease of loading and unloading stuff in it out of the weather. Also you could have elevated shelving above the flood line to keep it dry. Just a thought

Eevee and Doug - I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers with the weather that will be crossing where you live (your area). I hope those 6x6 timbers that you have for border around your landscaping won't wash away as the water rises. In the mid 70's (in Atlanta) we lived by a large creek that was prone to overflow, flooding our yard. One year the water carried our 2 person sailboat away from our backdoor and over our 3' high fence. We found it about 200 ft down the creek, luckily wedged in the fork of a tree. Of course, we never found our 2 paddles or life vests. That year, that flood, left us with an 18' log about 2' in diameter smack dab in the middle of our backyard garden. It took another 2 years and at least two more floods from heavy rains for my husband to guide the log to the back of our yard and finally send it over the fence and on down the creek. We definitely had good garden soil though! Good luck with this weather event. I hope both your properties remain safe and sustain no damage. Take care from Fort Payne, AL. Patricia

the roofing might be nice if youre going to build a workshop at youre place , there might be enough there to do the sides of the shop with too planter idea is nice though you might overdid it a little with the 6x6 beams , when filled you whont see the difference between a 6x6 and a 6 x2 if you cap them with a 6x1 board , you can make them a little higher too and stake them intoo the ground and do two levels , the front being 6 inch and the back part 12 inches high , still leaves a space open under the house but allows you to put smaller more groundhugging stuff in the front and maibe have some hanging/ crawling plants drape over the raised edge in the back, could even do long planters mounted to the siding over the opening under the house with some legs in the front painted the same colour as the trim and plant even more hanging stuff over that , you will have to make a watering system for those though i remember when i was young there was some building going on in my neighbourhood and the used pinetree trunks as piling , they cut them to length , i took the cut off pieces home with me and used those dug in vertically as a border , looked nice and rustic for a while untill the bark came off and they started rotting

I feel urged to tell you, please reconsidering voting for Harris. She is dangerous and inept. We just want things back to normal. We are so tired of the corruption, division, choas, sin, and hatred that the Democrat party has embraced. We're not really political, but it just needs to be said. Think about "Make America Great Again".. Maybe it was never truly great, but consider the concept. It's good for everyone. And Kennedy wants to help Americans get healthy again. What he is teaching and wanting to accomplish is the best news I have heard in politics in a very long time. The food and health industry in our country is terrible and he is on the right track.

When I lived in Central Florida, I saw so many houses on piers that left it open under. I asked why. Some said air flow to keep it cooler, others said to let it dry out in wet seasons. Always looked like a good hideout for snakes to me. Your house will look nice with the finished touch.

Ooo, the edging idea is so smart! The tractor is very handy. I actually thought you were going to use the tractor to tip the tree over the other day. Oh yeah, the bus is reminiscent of a clown car. I was wondering how many blocks were coming out. Lol😂❤
@ronfleming2031Ай бұрын
You may of thought of this already but using 6x6s as the perimeter base with a gravel floor you could mount a Harbor Freight 10x17 portable car canopy. Using the old roofing instead of the tent material you could make a semi permanent garage for your tractor or materials

You had said in a previous program that when it rained water pooled under your house. I had that problem with a house I owned. A neighbor came over and told me that I needed to put in a French drain and he said to get the water out from under the house with a sump pump .

Doesn't work with our property. We're in a flood zone and when the whole yard is under water, it is what it is. Plus we have a super high water table a times. Can't do much about that except fill in the crawlspace with dirt, but we don't want to do that.

@galady8632Ай бұрын
@michaelbowen463. * When they first moved to Florida their pond flooded the property due to a big storm. They prefer to allow easy access for air and water to move as necessary. Doug mentioned lattice around the base but that may have changed.

Doug - maybe the old roofing and some wood could build a small supply shed? Kind of like the Michigan chicken shed - but for all the extra materials to sit inside of? Maybe free up some room in the workshop trailer? Open on one side and predominantly rain and weather protection? Maybe it is wide enough for materials and the tractor. Just an idea. Post comment - I added this comment before you mentioned the shed/garage plan. Ha.
