I needed this video. We just bought an old mobile home on some property. The furnace is garbage and way way old. I have done residential but not any on mobile homes. This saved me a ton of headache

Do you have any idea how the connection is happening between the existing ductwork and the new furnace? I looks like he just sits th furnace over the opening? No sealing tape, screws, mastic??

Hey man, first off I LOVE your content. You were one of the easiest to follow when looking up the problem I’m having. So thank you for making these videos. I’m slowing watching them all! I’m having a problem with my drain line on the AC unit, and the contractor told me to installs cleanout tee but I don’t have much space to replace it. Thoughts?

Nice job dealing with that tight space. Wow aluminum wiring going to the furnace. Must be a 1970s mobile home. You have to make those wire nut connections well or they will melt.

Thanks for this excellent video. I’ve replaced my unit with a new DGAX Coleman single stage down flow unit (nearly identical to yours) but the fan speed on the heater is way too high and super loud. I don’t have the jumper setup like you have to adjust the fan speed,I have a slightly newer model that doesn’t allow for moving the wire to adjust fan speed. I’m wondering if you have installed a newer unit and if so how did you adjust the heat fan speed?

The old furnace you removed was a Coleman DGAT most of those were part of a massive recall. I have removed some of those with a hole in the heat exchanger the size of a quarter typically on the back right side of the heat exchanger. It is best practice to replace the roof-Jack, you are replacing a Coleman for a Interterm those roof jacks are not the same. In my area you won’t be eligible for a warranty unless the roof Jack is purchased with the furnace. In my experience you end up taking the sawzall to those because the inner flue is almost always stuck to the top of the furnace.

Interesting. Learning new things every day. Thanks for your input. This one came out and the existing one slid right over the new inlet and it was the same size so I guess we got lucky.

I have watched several of your videos, and I have to say they are great and very informative. But I have a very off topic question for you, because I see it in all your videos I have watched. What watch band do you have for your smart watch? I know it has nothing to do with diy'ing, but I gots ta know :)

Ruud is definitely superior in a lot of ways. The access panels are way easier to remove and the units physically look like they are made with better materials. Spark ignition which I like as well. And all of their coils come with a built in txv. Goodman is a good brand but Ruud is more installer/service friendly 👍🏼

I just installed this same furnace. I have a question for you . Inside my flame coming out of the burner is nice and blue . The surrounding flames inside combustion chamber are yellow . Is it safe to say it’s running correctly ? Air flow gas flow etc ?

I’m confused I just watched a video before this one stating all these reasons you said not to upgrade to a 95% efficiency furnace but at the end of this video you say checkout this video on how to replace a 95% furnace that you highly recommend it.
@diyhvacguy
@diyhvacguy 9 ай бұрын
They requested a high efficiency furnace. I’ve had a lot of people say their high efficiency furnace has given them little problems so I’m coming around to the idea of them, but I definitely prefer an 80% personally. Sorry for the confusion. Cheers

What happens if the blower motor is pushing to much cfm during the heating season and cooling season. I thought you want high cfm 1500 to have better filters for allergies.

When you have black pipe gas line is it possible to loosen the fitting under the trailer house without holding back on the fitting? Do I need to hold back on the pipe under the tailer house well losing the fitting?
@diyhvacguy
@diyhvacguy 6 ай бұрын
I unthreaded the black pipe and pulled it up out of the whole then when the new furnace was in, used a light and fished the pipe back through the hole with pipe dope on the threads and threaded it back in 👍🏼

I am helping a friend who also has a 30 yesr old propane hot air downflow in his double wide. OMG I ha no idea what i ave gotten myself into! Now i understand why his estimates all came in so high. When i though should be a 4 to 8 hour install myself looks more like a week long renovation of this ancient moble home. First old roofjack is incorrect for the new furnace as it only allows exhaust gas out andhas no provision for the combustion air. So that will need a completely new system and the roof is in very poor condition. Now i can see no possibility to connect to th existing under floor ductwork, and quite frankly i am fully exspecting a complete nightmare underneath where i assume is the only possibility to make that connection? Ifthere is video or better way i would love to learn. The closet is very tight on the back and sides however itis a short unit as no cooling coil cabinet. Perhaps build a transition metal box to instal first while leaving the furnace jacked up a few inches to allow some space towork sealing up everything. Anyadvice youcan give will be most appreciated!!! Than you in advance

Love the video on this model is exactly th same one I'm installing in a friend's trailer. However, I have no idea how that actual connection to the duckwork is happening without leaks. As your video does not show any portion of how that happens. The closet that I'm working in is so tight. There's absolutely no way to get to the back. Or the sides effectively unless I open up. The wall which i'd prefer to do then crawl underneath this monster as I have no idea what lies under there in a 30 year old trailer. I'm sure it's a big can of worms.

I just caulk the bottom but if it has some small leaks it’s not the end of the world. It’s supply air not return.
@patrickdowning1328
@patrickdowning1328 9 ай бұрын
Ok I just hope the transition piece will work as I believe back when this was built the combustion air was supplied from under the trailer. The MG1 model uses the roof jack for both exhaust and combustion air. I guess we will find out when we pull out the old just hoping not to damage the existing transition piece.
