We had SO much fun bringing these to life!! Would love to hear what style you're most drawn to? x

One of my favourite pieces in my Grandma's house was her small coffee table. It was just a regular coffee table base, but her mother-in-law (my Great Grandma) jazzed it up and did a mosaic of beautiful tiles on the top of it. My Grandma knew how much I loved it and saved it for me to have. These DIY projects are fun in the moment, but they're also a conversation starter and possibly an heirloom that your loved ones will treasure long into the future. Thanks for walking me down memory lane!

This made me tear up!! So true that these handmade pieces will be cherished for life and able to hand down to our loved ones to live on in memory of us. That’s so special you have that table from your grandma - what a woman to have mosaicked it herself!! I have a few pieces from my grandma too who passed away last year and I love having that constant reminder of her around my home 🥰

The fluted/Rendered table is my favourite. I love the texture(d) look it brings to the space. I'm attempting to make my own clothes for the first ever time next week when i'm on annual leave, and i'm using one of your dress sewing tutorials, so excited! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and learning process with us

These tables look really good. I could also see this working with irridescent/pearlescent small tiles.

I love the little tiled table! It was extremely enjoyable to watch the grouting process. I also keep imagining how gorg the dowel bottom piece would look with any shade of wood-stain. Not sure what the top design would be in that vision but I'll brainstorm

Thank you so much!! And agreed about the varying stain finishes - I've seen a few mid century inspired styles and LOVE how they look.

Love these ideas, definitely going to give them a go! How do you think the fluted table would wear with the grout? Would you need a sealer at all? Id love to do this for an indoor table but worry about the wear and tear x

Hi, can I ask I went to a shop today and they had used Gyprock to create a rendered table, you guys use Grout, I’m planning on covering a curved veneer table I have that’s a horrible dark wood colour, wondering what is best to use Gyprock or Grout. Would I need to undercoat or scratch up the surface of the veneer timber for it to hold? Thanks 🥰

Question! For the fluted table - is the top uneven from the grout texture?
@TheEssentialsClub3 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly it’s not that bad! We had those cocktails sitting on there easily afterwards. During the rendering process I just made sure to go around and flatten any big bumps. Then if it was a problem of being uneven we could have sanded it down once it dried ☺️
