“Saved hip hop…?” From what?? A lot of people never liked Drake and never heard of Nipsey.
@jayc57562 ай бұрын
@@michaelscott33 The hip hop genre was literally dying at the time. I blame it on all the garbage rappers they let in the game...but we can speculate what's the cause another time. But yeah, it was making less money...pulling in less streams....wasn't charting much anymore...labels said that they gonna get behind afrobeats and other genres now...not looking to sign any or much new rap artist at that time. But then this long awaited rap battle started. Some say it was planned and orchestrated. Idk. But based on how I'm looking at both camps after this battle...Im now starting to believe it a little. 🤔 They had a mutual person in between them that made sure the disses wouldn't go too too crazy. They both under Lucian UMG label...so idk. Some say they did this at this time to save the hip hop genre from dying...since the popularity was going down. If it did, I hope them other whack rappers fall off. We want to hear more substance. Not all this shoot em up shit all the time. And please have rappers that can actually flow on the beat properly. Tired of all these off beat dudes that's just talking & yelling on a track. FR. IJS
@michaelscott332 ай бұрын
@@jayc5756 one thing you have to realize is that labels have less power than they’ve ever had, historically. Rap has never been in danger of “dying.” You’re insinuating that there is something about “rap” that is finite and run out of music. Music changes, sure, but that’s because culture changes and guides where the music goes. Rap is still the newest form of music, today. We have never “lost” an entire genre or music or had it changed to the point of no recognition. You’re being extremely dramatic.
