Happy New Year Brother, to you, yours, and the rest of the GBRS Group family. I'm getting out of Rehabilitation this Friday the 3rd and have been walking without a cane now for one month. Doctors told me that I would never walk again, one year later, walking a mile a day. Giving that 1% every day, thanks to the content you guys put out.

In outdoor recreational sports such as bass angling now in competition, we are witnessing the first ever kind of 'Spartan' breeds of young folk come through the competition system, who are shoving the older competitors aside. And to use a phrase that Mike Ritland uses in battle, he talks about using all of the advantages, stack the decks, he doesn't want to have 'a fair fight' when it is about survival in battle. Sonar in pro competitive fishing is kind of like 'night vision' optics (one angling tournament director at the NPFL who was a helicopter pilot in navy said he recognizes some of the tech now coming through in fishing, at shows or Expo's in 2024 (where you move your head to look in a direction and the sonar scope on the boat does the same). That existed on the helmets of pilots decades ago. He explained that rattled him, and he banned sonar technology on his competitions for 2025. There is huge conversation about that in fishing, these Spartans now 'who only fish' and nothing else. What is this young generation of sports people in fishing that we've created. Is it for the good, or bad? Galloup a veteran angler who related to younger people who worked as guides for his guide business over the years, Galloup talks about needing to re-invent and not become disillusioned, or burned out with the occupation (he described a personality, a little like DJ's were one is looking always for new ways to invent, or think about what we do). That personality can sustain a career in fishing guiding over a longer period. Here is the issue with Galloup's idea (as an angler Galloup is a 'Leonardo Da Vinci' personality type, who floats around and tries out stuff to invent new ways to fish). The comedy 'skit' I would dearly like to see some time, is where Leonardo meets with his friendly 'human resources officer', who challenges him about his lack of application and focus. The young generation in competition, in sports are asked now to play along with the modern 'human resources management' culture (and yes, it's good at making the Spartans). Red Adair who worked 'in the oil industry' fell backways into his job calling (an explosion happened on a job pre- Second World War). Yeah, this guy Red was still around in Kuwait years later. His boss at the oil field in the late 30's said, Red it's not your job to put out the fire. To which Red responded, I don't know whose job it is, but someone's got to do it. Human Resources wouldn't have been impressed by his disregard for 'the org chart'. The talent today is trained not to branch into new stuff, just focus and dominate (stack the deck), in one thing. To the extent where competitive fishing uses tech used by fighter pilots.

Sometimes when DJ talks about his childhood it sounds like his father set his life before he was born and he just road the rails to the job. He ended up in a good place, but I empathize that his parents walled off any other options when he tried to pursue them.
@deathfire0963 күн бұрын
at the end he had a choice and pass it. When he joined the Navy @ 17 years old he was undesignated and NO SEAL contract. Meaning if he didn't pass the SEAL test at Boot Camp, he was going to the Fleet for 4 years in a different rate.

You definitely have no ideea how narcissists "operate". First off all narcissists have some really really bad vibes, I could spot it true the screen. GBRS it's nothing like that, It's the opposite. They seem to have a warm, family, fun, cool vibes. You should take from them what it's good for you, be thankful and move on.

DJ, you should do an episode with the difference and similarities between DEVGRU vs DELTA and end so much misinformation on social media. Be honest from your experienced . You have like 3 former Delta operators trashing publicly DEVGRU. I won't mention any names but they sure want to call attention. They compare Delta selection to BUDS instead of Green Team. I wonder why?
@Tehz13593 күн бұрын
That seems to be a thing with old school Delta guys and no one who was in fairly recently. Some act like Green team just doesn't exist. But I do think it's weird how DEVGRU guys never have anything bad to say about Delta, but some Delta guys certainly have plenty to say about DEVGRU. That can be interpreted two ways though.
@deathfire0962 күн бұрын
@@Tehz1359 I was a former Navy Sub Hunter with the P-3 Orion Squadron at the end of the Cold War. We didn't have another community from another branch doing the same thing or similar, so We never had any competition or rivalry for funds or missions like the SEALS do with the Army side. The only competition We had was from the different platforms within the community from P-3 Orion, S-3 Vikings, Helos but it was healthy and respectful. What I hear by some former Delta operators is not that they have an issue with a particular operator or operators but the whole DEVGRU community and make it sound like they are inferior to them but never give any details other than say Seals tryout for Delta but no Delta tryout for Seal when they know full well Navy doesn't make a path for Delta or anybody to crossover or compare Delta selection to BUDS and ignore Green Team exists. You would expect Tier 1 operators to know basic stuff if they are going to make comparison in public but for me, I'm interested to know the difference and similarities between DEVGRU and DELTA and why does JSOC has two TIER 1.
