Thanks for this first Hands-On review Mike! I find the video to be a bit contrasty at times when you go into the shadows, but I'm sure the HDR or D-Log would fix it. Cheers!

Do you know if a 65W USB-C Wall Charger for my laptop can be safely used to charger the Avata 2 batteries? DJI wants $79 USD for their charger whereas a $20 65W USB-C charger should work just as well. Thanks for providing the awesome videos

The scheduled obsolescence according DJI. This drone is still so difficult tl fly. It also takes too much time to connect the helmet, the remote control and the drone together.

It's far from difficult to fly! A person who never flew FPV before got used to it after 5 mins..

You didnt even try it on sport mode. If you think normal is fast just wait until you change to sport. I have the avata 2 and its a blast.

Did you get the foam insert for the googles or are you wearing it without like me? It was to be included with what’s in the box and they have since changed the website

⁠ I am too and I can feel the hard edge of googles.. there was supposed to a foam insert and they fucked the pooch and now they claim that’s how it was designed.. I have the first website photo of what’s included.. then they changed it… I’m gonna fab googles 2 foam for it

Thanks for the demonstration with the new Avata 2. I have always wondered about the spotter rule with these goggle drones. To me, it is such a headache to have someone babysitting you after all the training and testing you go through just to fly a drone. I loved flying my slower drones with my goggles until they came out with that damn spotter rule. I hate it and thus said screw using the goggles any more. What is your take on that?? Thanks for sharing your new experience.

I may sell my avata and purchase the 2, if I can get enough out of my avata. I have goggles 2, mc2, Avata, an extra battery, nd filters, battery strap, landing gear, and all other accessories that come with it in original box. I've flown it just a handful of times and never crashed it. I wonder if I could get $800 for it. I wonder if it is worth selling for $800 and paying the extra $3-$400 for the 2?

I’d love to see a comparison between a cinebot 35 or something similar. I’m looking to upgrade my cinewhoops and the avata 2 is checking almost all the boxes, the major downside is having to use the dji controller so id have to pack a second controller. I care more about image quality than flight performance. Great content as always!!!

On your first test flight were you down the hill? Thats what it appears as your home point was lower. Was that the cause of the loss of signal?

But this is not VLOS flight, and practically every set of aviation regulations requires either a VO or direct visual observation of the drone. Without either, the situational awareness is entirely dependent on the FPV camera, which limits any view of the surrounding airspace.

I don't think I'll like the goggles 3. I wear a hat most of the time & just turn it backwards when flying. The new forehead brace and strap battery make it seem like wearing a hat backwards won't work or will look more goofy than I already look. I kinda wish the forehead bumper was optional and the battery was removeable and able to just put in your pocket.

How??? What’s expensive? Its not just a flying object, its a fpv drone with so much technology, sensors, camera, gimbal etc. These things we are getting these days were once a task of big crews, big production setups. These companies are pushing their limits to provide the consumers with latest technologies via spending millions on R&D. Please consider all these factors, I understand the price could be higher for some of us, but you can tell that its not worth “even for 600” you or me haven’t done anything to say this.
