With the dji controller. If you hold the big button on the front to the right of the power button till it beeps. It locks the flight controls. You can still navigate the menus. Then when you want to fly. Hold the button down again then it re arms the flight controls. I use it instead of a pre arm.

To be fair...if you are new to the hobby and buy the dji system (goggles, air unit and controller) its probably comparable to buying an good analogue setup ( fatshark hdos , decent controller, and fpv camera). I got my dji v1 system on sale for £590 in a sale. Another thing to remember is that the dji air unit records 1080p 60 fps...so you may not need a gopro to record decent video. Understandably, the air unit doesnt do 4k like a gopro, but if you can live with the video from the air unit then you could argue the dji system is better value for money because you dont need an action cam. Just my opinion.

It has been stated by others that the signal bar in lower left corner is buggy.. to pay more attention to video MB's . If using focus mode you will see it starting to get worse on outside edges.. then jittery and lag.. people have run it down to 3 mb's but after 10 it drops so fast.. so starting on 50mb's I fly around watch it till low 20 and turn around.. with the signal in lower left corner changing back and forth to red and never had an issue. Hello Painless. I'm brand new to following you. I'm encouraged that you seem to be very knowlegable. I'm fairly new to the fpv hobby. I've built 6*5"quads. 2*6", and my first 7" just finished. I also lost my first aircraft this afternoon. I was flying at ~200 feet down a canyon here in Utah. I think I dipped too low below the rim and signal dropped and so did the quad. A hiker actually found it just hours after the crash. I think I've salvaged a couple hundred dollars worth of equipment. But I've consequently decided it's time to switch from betaflight and onto Inav and its return to home features that would have prevented todays carnage. So This 7 inch is going to be my first. Questions are first about compatibility. I'll run it down if you could please let me know if it will work. 7 Inch Deadcat frame with 8mm thick arms. Brother Hobby Avenger 2806 1300KV motors. Hobbywing X rotor F7 Convertible FC and Hobbywing 60 Amp 4 in one ESC. DJI Air Unit and Express LRS 2.4GHGz EP1 RX. I flew it once and I have several other 5 and 6 inch quads with similar specs except they have caddx vista for the video transmitters. They will be converted after/once I am successful with this 7 inch quad. So that was my first request for assistance. Asking if my quad is compatible and if I'm on the right track beginning with your youtube series to get my quads returning to home when a signal is lost in the future. I have installed INAV Configurator and flashed Inav onto the 7" quads FC. I suppose if you say it's compatible I'll start studying your series on the subject and ask you more if I get stuck. I took to betaflight fairly well so maybe this will go smoothly. Wish me luck.. Happy Flying!
@johnrost28283 жыл бұрын
P.S. I forgot to mention on top of that 7 Inch build sits a BN880 GPS Module. And if you aren't familiiar with that flight controller it "does" have a barometer and SDA and SCL pads for the compass feature. Inav target.Etc. So i "think" it should work, but I was reading some on compatability and the FC wasn't mentioned, not was Express LRS. So flags went up and here I am with these questions. Thank you in advance. Sincerely, John
@Painless3603 жыл бұрын
INAV for long range flying is the best bet IMHO. Video about something new coming in about a week on that very idea. As you've spotted - INAV needs a compass on it for the GPS mode stuff like LOITER and RTH (as well as full autonomous mission flying too!). Most 'LR' style models available at the moment don't bother with a compass as it is tricky to do well and rely on the average Betaflight GPH Rescue mode to try and bring it back to you. In INAV you can setup the fail-safe to bring it back home to you in the event of an issue. Setup NO PULSES as the fail-safe on the radio and test it on the bench in INAV so next time the radio connection is lost it'll fly back to you safely.. I hope that helps.
@johnrost28283 жыл бұрын
@@Painless360 Frustrated. I began configuring my 7 inch, long range quad for INAV last night. Got much done but I was reading ahead this morning regarding "hover" because logically it seems something very tricky and I was hoping to find a solution to the problem, Well I soon learned it seems "beyond" tricky. How on earth with variables such as battery charge level changing throughout a flight can you prescribe a working throttle hover value.? You could get the hover throttle level dialed in two minutes into a flight, but because the battery level trends down as time passes, then it goes to reason that 5 minutes into flight your earlier hover setting isn't quite enough to keep the quad in the air any longer. Add to all this the fact that I don't even see where you would "acquire" the throttle level while out in the field flying test runs. I only know to find those values on the reciever page in INAV configurator, and I couldn't find references to how it's done anywhere, similar to the difficulty I have had finding much of "anything" when I find myself asking a question and go searching for the answer online. Unlike betaflight where I can find "volumes" of info on most topics I'm learning about. So with that combination I've decided to put this project aside with little hope of succeeding. I hope you have some words of encouragment regarding these concerns or I'm afraid my hopes for a functioning RTH routine have flown the coop.
@Painless3603 жыл бұрын
It's not that hard when you know how. I have a review video for a 7 inch quad out tomorrow that includes a link in the descriptions to me setting it up with INAV.. That may help. Full INAV MR setup video planned for the autumn too.. Stay tuned!
