BOOM! Haha! It's been raining today and I have to fly out to Dallas TX for business for the next 3 days.... Just as I was getting back in the swing of things! I am taking the Mavic Air with me on my trip but doubtful I will find any place to fly but will be on the lookout for any opportunity.

I did a video like this for the bebop, it's the only way to see how good your battery is. Thanks brother.

The noise reminds me of Parrot Bebop Drone! Wow

Great tests - at 7:48 which screen are you going into to review your flight info?

Good test. Thanks for the comparison. Big difference from the Mavic Pro and P4P!
@ThompYT5 жыл бұрын
You should test the same with the obstacle avoidance off, cause that probably drains the battery by using all those cameras and processing cores!

Thanks for another clear and informative video. Really noise (with an annoying high pitched sound) and limited battery life. It´s DJI´s fault: they got us used to the MAVIC Pro!!! And the Platinum, better still! Anyway, an interesting drone for some people. In the meantime, many of us will wait for MAVIC Pro 2 to arrive. Cheers from Argentina, Michael!

great video, still have mixed feelings about the air. I will stay with Pro. also heard editing at 100 Mb makes it very hard on the computer. may be your next video on that
@ralphejohnsonsr6 жыл бұрын
Good Job mike. Enjoyed the information. Have you ever done that with the Mavic pro?? Love to see that also
@TechnicallyTom6 жыл бұрын
You should do a test with obstacle avoidance turned off too. It would be interesting to see if that increased battery time. Also, I suspect battery times might get slightly better after the batteries have a few more discharge cycles on them. Also, I just noticed, on your first flight it looks like you forgot to extend the antennas/landing gear.
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын
I did forget! That is going to take awhile to get used to! I forget just about every other flight!

I have almost forgotten, but I seem to remember before taking off so far.

I modified my ultra obnoxious ear ringing, attention grabbing SIREN low battery alarm. Best mod I've ever done. I can still hear it but just barely. Locate, drill slowly, pack with cotton or tissue and reseal with hotglue.

Hello Michael. Your vidoes are very suspenseful and informative! I subscribed thank you! I do have a question please: Are you using the same battery that you drained out completely in the last 2 videos when you ditched the Air? You never said how that battery was effected.
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын
I did use the same battery.... from many of the comments the battery has a feature that will not let it completely discharge. From all my flights after the mishap it seems to perform as it did prior to.

Thanks Michael!

Now *that's* a practical, useful test. And thanks for not making us watch the entire flight time :) Question - was your battery warm or cold when you started the flights? Looks like it was cold there...
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын
John Peltier Always warm...... hover flight it was about 30° out, 2nd and 3rd flight it was around 45° all shot with warm batteries.

Hi Michael. Great videos as usual. If you had to decide right now between the Pro or the AIR knowing as much as you know by now about both. What would you buy ?
@RCWildWheels6 жыл бұрын
Urroz Ricardo I own a Pro and every time I see those videos I think „well, that can do my Pro much better...“ Just think about why one is called Air and one is Pro.
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын
Urroz Ricardo For my purposes the Air is winning for me. The camera in the Pro was to advanced for me, the whole tap to focus and even when they updated with autofocus still caused me to miss a ton of shots and that drove me nuts!! There is already a mountain of a checklist when flying drones and the Mavic Pro added to that list. I don't do anything professionally, just recreationally so I like something I can quickly grab out of the bag and get up in the air quick.
@ricardourroz93226 жыл бұрын
Well it´s funny thing. I see videos from both and I see almost no difference. The Pro is attractive for the Occusync and the battery, otherwise is not, at least to me.
@ricardourroz93226 жыл бұрын
Thanks M. It´s a tough call. Because that Occusync and the 27 min flight it´s very appealing, but the APAS and the rear sensor is two... I like the portability since I do travel and like that, but Pro is also portable right? Damn! So difficult... and the Mavic Pro II by the end of March most likely will be around $1300 :/

Now I can see why you didn't make it back on your long distance flight test. I'm sure you thought it would fly a much longer time in sport mode. good, real world test.
@lukebailey42616 жыл бұрын
Tony Fall2Fast The reason he lost it in the first video was because he flew out onto the lake with a strong tail wind. If there was no wind he would have made it back. Look at the video again and you'll see that when he turned around to come back his top speed was nearly cut in half. And that was that.
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын
Tony Fall2Fast Ditto what Luke said!
@TDHobbies6 жыл бұрын
yeah, I guess that's true, even if the battery didn't last long, the software's forced return home should have made it.

so its totally normal for mavic air to move little bit while hover even inside?
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын
+Miłosz Gorzula Apparently. I even had to make some small adjustments. It was under cover going in and out from gps hold to visual.

@Pipefitter3106 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review Michael, but do you really like the Mavic Air ???
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын
So far it's my favorite! (and for the record DJI does not hook me up with anything, all paid for by me). The Mavic Pro camera was to finicky for me and I lost way to many shots, I'm strictly recreational flyer and always running and gunning so it's so frustrating missing the once in a lifetime shots! The Spark is more on the other end of the camera spectrum and with range issues and only 2 axis gimbal I am finding the Air is hitting right in the middle which is perfect for me!
@stringsattached676 жыл бұрын
I'm with you my mavic pro is collecting dust now ' I love this Air 😁 I'm hoping we get larger-capacity battery soon.

Michael Kincaid any updates on battery life for the air. Just got on it only last 10 minutes however idk if I was in sport mode like you mentioned
@stilmotionpicture6 жыл бұрын
Sounds like it's louder than the Mavic pro?
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын

Please make a course/loop test to see WHAT DISTANCE can it cover in P GPS and SPORT From 100% to 10% BTW test is great but the BAT life is like SPARK LOL!!!

In normal I got 11,000 ft out, on return I landed with 10%. Flight was at 350ft altitude over central Florida with a 5-10mph wind (normal mode).

Tai Mai Shu indeed, I do 13-14min on my Spark...I am tempted to switch to Mavic Air ...but +3 min only?
@jeffro10056 жыл бұрын
Yea I get 11-12 min. being in sport mode on the spark landing at 10% Looks like Mavic Air is about the same. I fly in sport mostly so not an upgrade for me. Don’t care about 4K or obstacle avoidance either. I’ll fly the spark til spark 2 comes.
@Make-Asylums-Great-Again5 жыл бұрын
I get 16 min in normal mode, that’s not impressive.
@terryandteresa6 жыл бұрын
The Mavic Pro uses a technology that is unsurpassed. It's called Occusinc. The mavic air does not use that. It uses enhanced wifi. In my opinion it should have been called the Spark Pro. The SPARK uses enhanced wifi just like the air does. Mavic? NOT EVEN!
@MichaelKincaiddontroughit6 жыл бұрын
The Occusinc is off the chain but I think the Air has enhanced wifi over the Spark. I do like how it has the cable to plug in like the Mavic Pro does, i've not had any issues with range with the Spair! HaHa!
