I just switched to an iPhone solely because my Android does not run the Mavic (even though the Asus M2 is listed as it can). However with the iPhone there is no data cable that goes from the mini port on the Mavic to the lightning on the phone like Android has. Sure glad I found this vid as I dont want to be yanking out the mini SD every time I want to text a HD photo to a customer. Never noticed that download icon on the photos before. Basically I can have the photo sent off in a text before the Mavic slams into the ground for the 100 ft aerial shots I need. Pretty amazing tiny drone. Just surfing youtube one day and Mavic seemed to come up as the go to drone to compare to. Within minutes of watching youtube about the gimble, the quality of the vid/pics, I had mine ordered. My second flight it got blown away, then later I found out about S mode.

GREAT CLIP MATE ! well described and demonstrated. Good stuff. The problem I'm having, and have searched for hours online without luck how to fix, I filmed a number of clips today and now, they will only play back on my iPhone - they're all showing up in within the DJI GO 4 app, under the "editor" then "album" collection ... and all play no drama and I can see a couple of still shots too - however these same files are nowhere to be found on my SD card nor on the Mavic Air internal memory space. It's like they wrote purely and only to the iPhone .... ? It's got me absolutely stumped !!! They not in the video folder on my iPhone, only within the app under the app's album collection. I set the cache limit relatively high on my iPhone in case I ever had issues but has that made the drone record only to my phone and not to the SD card ? I know the camera / drone recorded them all as I can play it on my phone from within the app...... I need them on my PC but can't drag them over when they're only showing up in my iPhone ... it's doing my head in !!! P L E A S E HELP !!!!

I miss one thing: whenI connect my iPhone to my MacMini, and I look at 'Files' I see the DJI Fly Appp, and within the Folder 'videoCache' (at this moment 878,7 MB). But I can not look into this Folder, let alone use the low res files! Is that normal, or did I miss something?

I found a way: just drag the iPhone Folder to the MacMini Desktop! This copies the whole Folder!

Same thing as the dongle but instead use a USB adapter. Then you copy files like you would on a flash drive.

There is also another way to transfer files to your PC.. via the micro-USB to USB-A cable (provided by DJI). You can turn on the drone whole still folded with gimble protector still on and connect. The SD card will appear in My PC. I got max transfer speed of 25mb/s. A SanDisk card reader did it at 300mb/s.

You couldnt have laid it out any better with less words thats for damn sure, well at least as far as to my personal prior understandstandings of how you can easily, simply and quickly from device to device and which is the better quality for sharring them. Just a heads up, for anyone with Mavic Mini 2, once you connect your phone via bluetooth to the drone, you enable QuickTransfer mode, which can download content very quickly (approx 25MB/s).

It’s very easy to do the transfering of files, however if you upload directly from the sd card to thrme FB it will be of very low resolution below 720p. If you use the cache files from the drone and uploaded its at 720p.

That should work too, would you like to check?: Mavic Mini MicroUsb OTG Cable USBC/Lightning cable Smartphone/Tablet or MavicMini MicroUSB Cable USBC/Lightning OTG cable Smartphone/Tablet If you try, can you check also if that does work without having the battery inside the MavicMini? Beside of that i guess the WIFI transfer will prevent microSD card slot from "wearing out". However, I am not sure for what kind of audience that of video should be , as I guess "that kind of people" who not find the App intuitive enough might also not be able to use youtube or the copter itself. But maybe I am completely wrong

Thks you so much for your great videos. They are such a help. Quick question. I have a A new DJI Mini 2 and I love it. I have an early IPad Air. I purchased a lighting plug dongle for the iPad to transfer photos and pics. I followed your example and while the photos import perfectly, any videos start to import and continue to be importing with a circle going around for a minute or two appearing to be in the process, then stops and a circle with a red exclamation mark is inserted in the incompleted import of the video file. Although it starts the process for a while it doesn’t complete the importing of video files. I don’t understand why. All the videos are in DCIM folders and called .mp4 etc but they won’t import yet photos import with no problem. The only thing I am wondering is the videos are 4K and maybe my older iPad Air can’t play them so it doesn’t complete the transfer? Any insights would sure be appreciated.

Yes with older iPads it doesn’t support some of the newer codec unfortunately. Usually you can bypass this by uploading to the files app instead

You are correct it is much faster to transfer with the SD card removed straight to your phone or iPad, problem I’ve found if you don’t download from the drone is you cannot use the DJI editing function but only what your iPad offers which is not as good. Is there a way around this? Thanks

Great info. Do you know of a way to share the incoming video signal with another iPhone so a client of mine doesn’t have to watch over my shoulder. There’s an app but it has all 1 star reviews and gets expensive (especially if it doesn’t work). The drone will not know of your problem. Press the RTH button and be prepared to land manually. You really shouldn't have this problem as it is quite stupid to launch a drone with such low battery on the device you are using for your screen. I did it once, that was enough. If you lose power in your screen the drone is oblivious and just hovers awaiting a new instruction. If you hit RTH the drone will turn towards you and start returning, you can override the controls if you want to. The screen is regarded as optional, modern video drones can be flown without the screen working. The drone will wait for a new instruction or until the battery level triggers automatic RTH, it won't know or care whether your phone battery has died.

Is it bad to download the videos through the app because the drone overheats when sitting idle without the motors running? I downloaded a 9 minute flight video and after it finished I had several warnings that the drone was overheating and the camera had been turned off.

Well, I must have goofed somewhere. I recently shot several videos with my Mini and took the shortcut to transfer the HD footage directly to my laptop via the micro sd card as you suggest. In the process, at least one video shows as corrupt and will not play. Strangely, neither does the cache file appear on my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S9+) used with the DJI Fly app. Any suggestions?

Only thing I can think of to test is maybe try a few other card readers just to rule out? Also I recall I had another card that had a lot of mileage on it (shot high res + high bitrate with many years of back and forth transfers). Was trying to copy all files over to MacBook and I tried testing few different card readers (Sony uhs-ii, caldigit dock, anker readers etc.). Most files copied over but one or two files would fail to copy or show corrupt when opening. The odd part was different files would fail on the different readers so not the same file failing on each reader. I gave up after a few hours and just chalked it up as high mileage card. I even format the card and shot some new test clips and retest the transfer but same behavior. Tested formatting to exfat, ntfs, Apple as well etc. 🤷‍♂️

Great video!!! however need your help........if you open the sd card (mini 2), there are 2 folder structures. 1 is called DCIM (containing the photo and video files), and the 2nd is called MISC containing also a folder with Log data. So if you move the photo videos to eg IPAD / PC etc from the DCIM folder that's easy for later post production etc. However if you later remove them from the sd card, the MISC folder remains....Is that required? should they be kept on the sd card? what happens to that information if you format the sd card....then all is removed of course. I am puzzled with this MISC folder structure on the sd card and what to do with it? Keep ? store? remove? (because I already moved the pictures / videos from the DCIM folder.....)
