Thanks Billy. Ken here from Western Massachusetts. Really appreciate this video. Just got my mini Friday and Ive been watching all the videos I can to prepare for my first flight. This one is the most comprehensive I’ve come across. I had just read the users manual covering everything you showed. To read it then see your video was priceless. After I got it set up to fly I put it on the floor in my kitchen and launched. This was after I set the height. Was able to turn it around without breaking anything and then land it. While in the air it moved over our pub table so I had to move it back over the floor where it took off from to land it. I did this several times just to get the feel of it. We’ve been having some bad weather so I haven’t taken it outside yet but cant wait. I’m sure you’ve figured out that this is my first drone. I’m looking forward to a lot of fun as we travel and also look forward to more videos from you.

Another excellent tutorial. I've just bought a new Mini and can now unbox and set it up with confidence! As an aside, I live in New Zealand where the skies are very clear and the sunlight is very bright. I note most high quality drone/Mini videos appear to be shot during the "golden hours." Cheers

It is super crucial to know which I don't think you mentioned that you should be ultra conscious of the gps connection strength always being around 4 or 5 bars because when lower it can get thrown into ATTI mode and cause many to crash if not prepared for this....which just happened to me recently in the city which is why I am researching more and saying something here. Got my mini yesterday and discovered that the phone I had wasn't compatible with the app. One of the big issues was a 64 bit processor, and mine is a 32 bit. Before you buy this thing, you should download a phone info app to see whether you're compatible. Check the DJI site to see whether your phone is listed.

@@davidsv6220 No. You don't have to have phone service. Wi Fi is between the phone and the drone, So I don't think even need to have Wi Fi service. Just be Wi Fi enabled.

Enjoyed the video and thanks for the information. This is my first real non toy drone and I am really liking it. I do have a question, when I touch the image screen I get a yellow circle around on the area I touched and just wondered what that means? Guessing maybe a focus command? It doesn't seem to do anything, at least from what I can tell. Again, thanks for the videos and great information for us new drone pilots.

Not focus, this is exposure metering. So the camera will expose the image according to the reading of the area you selected.

Whenever I fly my Mavic mini just go up to 60 meter attitude and stop no matter I tried. I did set 300 meter for high attitude on menu setting but nothing changed and it automatic setup high attitude 60 meter again. Thanks for your help man.

I always like your videos going back to my first Phantom. However, I do have a question after seeing your video with the MM: while you were filming the train across the River, you were flying backward. My experience with MP,Spark,etc is that it is difficult to pull the stick back and hold it on the same course. Is there a trick to this? I ordered a MM on October 30th via credit card. I have not heard anything yet but understood ship date of November 11 was first ship date. Are others experiencing this issue.? I am ready to fly!

Yes. There is a wheel on the gimbal to point the camera downwards -90 degrees.

You might want to let folks know that not all smart phones will run DJI FLY....Check the DJI website for a list of compatible smart phones. I had to cancel my order for a mini after finding out my LG phone is incompatible with the DJI FLY app. I would suggest you try to install DJI FLY before making your purchase. I'm under the impression most Iphones work along with a lot of Samsung Galaxy's. I'd upgrade my phone but the fact that my phone works fine and the cost for a new phone would mean another 250 on top of the cost of the mini fly more combo...I'm not swimming in cash, so....

Hi Billy, got my hands on the Mavic mini yesterday, but I'm having problem connecting the drone with the RC. Every time I switch on the drone and the RC and go to the fly app it says its not connected, tried to do it manually through the app but still it showed the same prob, but then randomly it got connected but its not stable. I got the rc disconnected while i was flying, i had no view on the phone, but somehow the controller was still working i can see as it was just 20m away from me. Is it because I'm using an android device or something else. Also it asked me to calibrate the compass and the IMU thrice within 24 hours

how do you know all this stuff? just learning, thanks for the help. One thing that puzzles me, is why the drone loses GPS contact. Setting on the ground, it may lock into 7 or 8 or even more satellites, apparently medium strength, but then when I fly, it is up in the air, should be better access to satellites, but will warn of losing GPS connection. (I noticed your drone, setting stationary, has varying GPS connection too) Is there anything I can do about this? Seems potentially problem-causing? Thanks

Since the iPhone is connected to the Mavic Mini remote controller via the lightning port on the iPhone, can I assume there is no way to power my iPhone with an external battery ("power bank") while flying since that also requires the lightning port and cable?

You totally left out "More" , under "Profile". I am wanting to know about the "Flight Data Center". It seems to contain a lot of info. Where is it accessing this info from? I would REALLY like a tutorial on using the editing software that is supposed to be very user friendly. Would also like to know how to transfer the files to my device that I’m using as a monitor. I have been simply pulling my battery out of the drone to change batteries, but the manual says something about pushing down on a button to release the battery? Help please.

Thanks for the tutorial, just set my mini up on the floor to make some settings changes, especially that 4:3 to 16:9 for the pictures. I could have swore I read there was a circle mode on the mini, I guess not. Still an amazing piece of cheap technology.

When I connect my glasses, my Dji googles to the remote of the Mavic mini, I get battery status and how many satellites it takes. Also shows if there is a memory card in the quadcopter. Wonder if there will be an update that can show picture too?
