Just bought a mavic air 2 yesterday, I was super excited to fly it today but I noticed the same issue with my controller. Thankfully I saw your video first before flying. About to send it back now hopefully they could replace it or fix it. May I ask how long did it take for them to fix it?

Hi Jan, I think it was away about a week but they cured the problem and I haven't had an issue since.

@@itsricoJRG When mine is fully charged and I turn it on, when not connected to the drone, I get four green flashing lights. When I plug the charging cable into it I get 4 steady green lights if fully charged. If not fully charged I get crawling lights telling me that it is charging.

I discharged it completely; I even put it in a plastic bag in the fridge to ensure the battery was completely dead. Afterwards, I connected it back to the original charger and cable. Now it works again. Be careful though, because you don't want to have moisture in your controller

I received this information: "Guys who are having this problem, don't worry!! Put it to charge even if it doesn't accuse... for 3-5 hours. Then leave the control resting from 1 day to the next. Then just turn on the control and it will be normal. This is happening because of the calibration of the cells! I did that and it worked! The dji who passed it to me!!! Another detail: never use a turbo charger, as it can burn the diode inside the control."

Hi Curtisay, Not fixed yet, I’m sending it back to DJI for repair. They are collecting Tuesday. I’ll see what they do with it...do you have the exact same problem it just won’t charge, no white charging lights?

Hi Mike, i had same problem as your controller, i purchased the Mini one week ago and the controller works only if the charger is plugged in, when the charger is unplegged from the controller it switches off and stops to charge the phone that's connected to the controller, it is also impossible to power on and to check the battery level...today i opened a case to the service. Can i ask how are the times of service to fix the problem please?

Hi prospero Cucca, The service was quite quick I think it was within a week and all was well when I got the RC back. I have had no issues since they fixed the problem.

I got the same problem for my mini 2 today, just unbox it and found the controller cannot charge. And I'm quite supervised that there are many people have this problem, but it's very difficult to find the information online.

Hi, After 1 year of working, I have the same problem: RC works right with drone but It doesn't charge any more. Have u any ideas to solve this? Did someone try to reset the RC ?

Same problem the type-C cable is heating but I couldn't claim the repair it's just 2 months old mini 3 pro.. bot not warranty and guarantee here in my hometone cause here it's illegal to sell or buy without permission. Could DJI help ?

This happened to me a couple of days ago after updating to firmware V01.03.0000. Suddenly I can't charge my controller and my USB cable is extremely hot when plugged in. I can swap out cables and it's the same result.

Its not just the V01.03.0000 firmware. My controller had the older firmware and also broke down in similar fashion.

I have a similar fault on my mavic mini 2 controller. In my specific case the failure is that when I connect the phone (android) it starts charging and then disconnects and comes back, disconnects and comes back (every 4-5 seconds), then I can never connect with the drone because of these disconnections. I have tried with another phone and also with another cable, but the problem still continues :(

That's different to my fault but it needs sorting. Have you got an iPhone to see if its the phone. Maybe needs sending back or check the forums for an answer, hope you get it sorted.

@@joeylopez2428 I have tried to buy new cables but that is not the problem. Finally I tried with another mobile phone and it works. It seems that the problem is with my Xiaomi (it seems to be a common fault of Xiaomi phones that many have and I still do not know how to fix because according to me I have read is a physical fault)

Mini 2 batteries are sold at Wex Photo Video, Argos, and of course DJI as far as I know. priced around £50.00

Yes I sent it off to DJI and I think they replaced the usb 3 socket on the controller. All is now ok 👍

Hi Mike. I know this is an old thread but while my issue is similar, it's not quite the same in that I have no lights whatsoever on my controller when I turn it on and none whatsoever when I plug it in to charge. I've tried plugging it directly into a USB port on my computer and into a phone charger with the same result. I last used it around 3 months ago and it was fine but it appears the internal is completely dead and won't charge at all which makes my DJI mini 2 completely useless after only around 20 flights. Very disappointing considering the cost.

Hopefully someone on this comments section may know something of this problem and may help you. I have not heard that one of a total breakdown of the unit. I will never buy a ski product again, first mini 2 stopped working so I got a second one, then the battery for the first one stopped working and now the controller is (I kept the new controller at home as I’m traveling abroad.) I think their product only last at least 3 years maximum before it starts breaking down! Here I’m in Brazil with a drone I can’t use just like two years ago when I was in Mexico…

Well I have the same problem I realized that the connector of the wire that goes to charger it was kind of hot and smelled some Burns so now the control does not charge

Just subscribed to your channel Mike, might worth checking the settings on the controller as you can power your mobile phone or power your controller. My Mavic Air 2 controller lights are white while my Mini 2 controller are green. They flash when not connected but once the drone is connected, they stop flashing. If you checked your settings then it seems the controller has a problem and return it to DJI. Send them an email explaining the problem. Hope you get it sorted Mike :)

Hi Mike, I have received my new Mini 2 today and have exactly the same issue. All is good with the drone but the controller will only work with an external USB C cable plugged in with power. As soon as it is disconnected, the controller goes dead. It's been on charge now for over 4 hours and no indication of any activity. Returning to the supplier tomorrow for replacement, extremely disappointed :-(

When you open up on the bottom part of the remote close where the connection power connection gives skin there's a bunch of circuits but there is one a little bit bigger black and square I took it out with my nail because it looks burned I zoom up with my phone camera and then when I disconnect that little circuit I checked again and it starts charging normally

I had one of these controllers all with the exact same issue a few years back which was fixed by removing the Transient Voltage Suppressor. Rodrygo Danielli posted video a few weeks ago which is the same solution that I had come up with. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4q5aY2dqdWhgNk There is clearly an issue with the Transient Voltage Suppressors that DJI have chosen as I have now had another 2x Controllers stop charging (the one that I removed the TVS still works to this day). Again they was fixed in the exact same way by removing the Transient Voltage Suppressor. When testing with the TVS still in the controller. The TVS immediately goes Short Circuit to Ground when the correct 5v is applied from the charger. This caused my charger to shut down due to overcurrent. This loop repeates every 10 seconds forever. If you want to replace it you will want to be looking at something like this but bare in mind these are Tiny 4mm x 2mm surface mount components. uk.rs-online.com/web/p/tvs-diodes/1714263 As my units was out of warranty, I just removed it and left it empty and will live with the fact that a voltage spike whilst charging may kill it (unlikely anyway).
