There is a lot of room for improvement on the Active track. As I told you earlier, I have had the same experiences, that you should go slow, and in reality have no obstacles around 🙂.

I wonder if the water texture confuses it. With human eyes, it's obvious but maybe the M4P just needs better pattern recognition? Anyway, serious question: Do firmware updates improve things like object recognition? Second serious question: Can the controller act like a beacon for the drone? Can it 'push' it's co-ordinates to the drone to follow? I know it doesn't NOW, but it would seem to be something that could be added IF the controller knows its co-ords.

the main challenge on this anti track is about the color of your outfit so he can track you properly. I'm doing foiling and use a yellow fluo t-shirt and it follow me way better than with a blue t-shirt... on water

I'm so grateful that in my country, Slovenia, the beaches-at least 10 meters or more from the water-are considered common property and not privatized. It's unfortunate that some countries still allow private ownership of such natural treasures. Anyway, fantastic video!

This is the same in New Zealand, and it's really foreign to us that people can OWN beaches and riversides. In NZ, it's called the Queens Chain (as in the old imperial measurement of a chain) and it's fiercely defended when people try to change the access to waterways.

I did some testing with the Air3 active track and it's my experience that it loses the subject easier than the Mini 3 pro just like you experience in this video, I just gave up on the activetrack for now, it was pretty much unusable, even with people walking slowly.

I always clean the sensors and camera with cotton swabs and alcohol. I noticed that fingerprint smudges seem to appear from nowhere no matter how careful one is .

Ok this is the parrot anafi follow me I think is the most cinematic and perfect In many ways The anafi lost me at the stadium in the begining..but when it is lost the subject starts follow the gps signal of your remote..and the altitude from your phone means that following you in high also from the barometer of your phone..... perfect drone

I thought maybe I would consider moving up to the Mini 4 pro from the Mini 3 which I currently have for one of several features including active tracking but after seeing how weak this feature is, I’ll stick to my Mini 3 for awhile I think. That is pretty disappointing how it falls off the subject so easily.

So glad you did this test. Just last week I was pumped to go take footage of my brother in law on his new Seadoo and my Mini Pro 4 kept loosing him. Thought it was me ! 😢 sad it didn’t work though. Mine was also flying super high whenever the jetski was going fast and then lost it. What’s the point of having the little boat 🛥️ symbol if the drone can’t track in low contrast on the water right!! My Air 2s also has major problems locking on and staying locked on my 2021 Seadoo RXTX 300hp machine. I've stopped trying to use it while on the seadoo, it's useless for that. I now have a Mini 4 Pro as well and I'm not so sure there is any improvement.

I've upgraded to M4P this week. Went to see how Active Track works and had a crash on the very first try (drone flew backwards into branches with leaves on). I was walking slowly so the drone had all the time in the world. I have no idea how can they state that this thing has Omni Directional obstacle avoidance and provide this wheel with drone positions where you can place it anywhere you want. Didn't DJI test it to see that it does not work well enough?

I think you should try it with the drone being a bit closer to you. I´ve often experienced tracking problems when the subject is to far away on all kinds of DJI Drones. It should be a lot better when it´s at least 50% closer than you´ve tested here.

Remember the video you did with the mini 3 pro? It was amazing. By the way, one of the reasons i bought the mini 3 pro. Last week, i was in cadiz, and i was doing an active track of a guy on one of those motorized surf boards. I had it on POI rotation, and the footage was incredible. Not only that, he was cutting inside and outside of the axis of rotation, and the drone followed him perfectly, making dramatic but perfectly smooth adjustments. It was so good it almost looked like an FPV.

maybe your jet ski is too small to be a boat with better tracking, still tracks it but struggle, also it tracks better where subject is (bigger or closer)

The spume of the water same as the color of your white tshirt and jetski is recognized by the drone. So it disconnected from you if some other things have the same white colors.

You need to bring it lower and closer, too far for the auto track to lock onto your boat properly. You won't have to bring it directly above water, it won't crash if it was 10m+ above the surface.

Good footage when it wasn't losing you. I deel like you flew way too high with the drone. You xan also zoom in and it with track better. Remember the "subject" needs to take up at least 15-20% of the screen. Sun was quite bright also. I would have had at least an ND32 Filter running. I generally prefer parallel tracking over 360. Thanks!

Dist.: 6-100 m (Optimal 20-50 m) Alt.: 6-100 m (Optimal 10-50 m) Look at "D" in your footage when trying to focus the target (5:07 D 276 m!) "AUTO": Do not try a feature, not knowing what is behind it!

Thanks for taking your time. The max flight speed is added to the video actually ;) and that’s why I included m/s on all speed indicating texts don’t could easily be compared. The Distance indicated on the remote is from the HOME POINT. Not the remote, unfortunately. That’s why the drone is returning back to the take off point (home point) and not to where the remote is :) Thanks for your support!

I really hate the mini 4 pro for active track ... ive been having the same problems . the mini 3 pro did it to me also but way less and did much better then the mini 4
