DJI Mini 4 Pro Hidden Feature: Obstacle Avoidance Works in Sport Mode?

Did you know there's a DJI Mini 4 Pro hidden feature in Sport Mode? You can actually activate obstacle avoidance in sport mode with this awesome hidden feature and the best part is, I don't think anyone knew this!!!
We can't take credit for figuring this little "hack" out but we can sure as heck try to duplicate the results, right? I was watching a video from J&E Tex Drones recently and he (John) discovered a way the obstacle avoidance actually works in sport mode with the DJI Mini 4 Pro. He was conducting an Active Shots test and when he swapped it over to sport mode, he was in for a surprise. Well, so was I.
Watch along and see how this all plays out. You may be surprised, or you may not be. Maybe you already knew about this hidden feature so, if that's the case, be sure to leave a comment telling us how out of the loop we are. :)

Great test as always and nice to see Kristi. FYI, the Air 3 works the same if anyone wants to know. It also works (obstacle avoidance) that way in the RTH feature. So that is good I think, as well. Just what to let you know that I have some health issues that I need to take care of over next few months. So, if you don't hear from me, you know why. We think alike Kev, I watched the same guy and I tried it out last week in the open (video out June 16th), walking and I have the latest update (P mode) and it still works in Sport mode. Just walking about but using the stick to move the drone fast with the obstacle avoidance on! It was amazing. Great video guys, I must get Bonnie to drive my car :)

N mode or Sport mode.. It's not worth the test if the drone goes the same speed. To really test this you would need to test it in S mode but with speeds that is more then in N mode.

Thanks for watching and commenting, buddy. That’s a controller protector / shade screen and I’m totally happy with it. It does help with the sun a little bit but my main reason for getting it was so I could keep the sticks on in the case. Works perfectly. Honestly the screen on the RC2 is a lot brighter than my phones ever been and I’ve never had a problem seeing it in the sun. Lol. Here’s a link to the one I bought on Amazon. I doubt it is in Sport mode. A true test would be to see if it attains Sport Mode speeds while the sensors remain on. My guess is that the speed will be limited to that of Normal mode and that the controller is just showing the "S".

I take it you’re new to the channel or haven’t witnessed some of our past videos where I prove the case that there are definitely people in the world who are way smarter than me and also are way more in touch with their technical abilities than I’ll ever be. Hmmm….Im not sure that you are at S mode speeds once you turn on Active Track. J&E Tex didn’t demonstrate speed. I think Active Track has a max speed that is equal to N (P) mode. So the real revelation here may be the Active Track overrides S mode speed. Can you do this over and show the actual speed on your screen recording? What's the point of the video, though? The drone isn't doing anything special or different, it's working as intended. C/N/S aren't available I'm active track. It's it's own exclusive fourth mode, which flies below the sensor cutoff speed. The sensors will work regardless of what mode you have it on for tracking. Everyone who uses their drones regularly knows this. When you're doing active track, complete disregard whatever it says in the upper left corner. That's just what you'll go to once you leave tracking. Not being rude, but this is the second video I seen of someone "discovering" something that was never missing or not working. Modes dictate turning and gimbal speed, and they need to be variable to track a subject, so your mode choice is simply ignored when tracking activated. It's not a "hidden" sport mode feature, and in fact, has NOTHING to do with sport mode. It's an active track feature. Air 3 works the same way.

Lol with our videos there’s usually not much of a point. Just having fun and trying to make people smile a bit. I understand where you’re coming from for sure and am definitely not offended in any way. You raise a good point but i was still impressed that it worked. My follow up to this is does the drone go sport speeds when it’s in this mode or is it essentially in normal mode with the s showing in the corner? I couldn’t get up to speed where we were to try that out but I’ll look into it later on. I don`t see it as anything good. I am sure it`s just a clitch they didn`t take out. Pretty sure if you did the test at sport mode speeds it would not react fast enough and probably crash. I do appreciate the test and learning something new though. Thanks. 🙂
