Thank you for your review. I have a question, from your experience, is the RSc2 a good and easy to use gimbal for portrait/vertical video shooting? Thanks.
@learningcameras2 жыл бұрын
So, it's not the worst but it doesn't hold the camera itself vertically and the vertical mode (which it has) doesn't have as much range of movement or features since the back arm is curved. Thus I typically put my camera in a cage with the tripod plate on the side so I can physically mount it vertically if you shoot that way a lot. Again, it has a vertical mode but that doesn't work as well as physically mounting the camera on the gimbal in a vertical orientation so I'd look for a gimbal with that ability if you need vertical a lot

Hey! Thanks so much. Definitely this works well with the A1 as would the RSC2. If you are using heavier lenses like the 24-70 F2.8 GM and higher, I'd probably go with the RS2. @@abstractempirephotography Yep, I just press the record button on the camera rather than the gimbal. You might get a little shake for a split second but that's usually fine. Good information but you’ve only made me more confused ...do I get the RS or the CS... but more importantly than all the features is which gimbal gives you the smoothest movement. That’s really the most important element. And I’ve heard that the weebil is just as good. Your thoughts on that please.
@learningcameras3 жыл бұрын
Both gimbals give you about the same movement/stabilization. The RS does better if you have a larger load or un-even loads (large lens or battery grips) and has a few extra features if you use manual lenses or more advanced functions. But for straight gimbal work with a smaller/balanced setup, the RSC2 is awesome. I personally have not used the weebil so no comment on that one

So trying to get a sense of the relative packability of the two models; esp if I were to just slip them into an existing camera bag vs using the separate case they come with.

In a way the sc2 is smaller because the handle detaches so the gimbal without the handle is small and the handle is pretty easy to store. The RSC-2 gets pretty small but because the handle is still attached it requires more space in a single compartment. But both easily fit in a small backpack

Hey! So I personally just use AF on the gimbal with my SIII. It's so amazing I haven't found a reason not to use it lol. Given that I think you can skip the pro combo since you are not shooting manual lenses. I also have been finding the RSC2 to be absolutely plenty for my SIII setups even with heavier lenses like a 24-70 or 16-35 but definitely it is more comfortable with smaller lenses. If you plan on using F2.8 zooms all the time, maybe the RS2 but for smaller primes, Tamron F2.8 zooms, or the occasional big Sony F2.8 zoom, the RSC2 is fine.

@@yaboibakalli he means he still shoots in standard horizontal (16x9) in 4k resolution. Shooting in 4k allows you to zoom in quite a bit without a loss of quality for a 1080p output. So in premiere pro or whatever editor u use you can set the sequence setting to be 9x16 instead of 16x9 giving u a vertical sequence. U then shift the footage around using the position and scale to focus where u want it to be (aka setting your composition).
