Heads up - links don't work )= shortened text copied, but not the whole link
@Ttales4 жыл бұрын
@@petesoulis looks like they are about the same weight for minimum set-up (RS 2 = 1375g vs RSC 2 = 1318g), because of the carbon arms on the larger one (= You'll have to add 226g to those numbers if you want metal tripod legs. That total includes camera mounting plate, but there are also Upper and Lower Quick-Release Plates (105g) for the RS 2 - not sure if those are necessary to operate. In any case weight difference will be about 162g max, which is negligible in most cases. By the way first Ronin SC is only 1088g, but I believe the built quality is not that sturdy.
@petesoulis4 жыл бұрын
@@Ttales thanks for the response (great video from your holiday in Greece as well :) ). I can find this information in DJI's web site, but things get a little confusing, as I'm sure I have seen elsewhere that the weight is close to 1,1kg (I'm not sure where though, or what the setup was). It is also, as you said, not clear if those upper & lower plates are necessary. I'm coming from Moza Air 2, which weighs around 1,6kgs in its minimum setup (incl. the tripod legs) and had almost decided to go for the Weebill S (about 1,2kgs with the legs). So, RS2 & RSC2 are about the same weight with the Air 2, and about 400gr (not negligible at all for all day use) heavier than the Weebill S.
@Ttales4 жыл бұрын
@@petesoulis thank you! Greece is epic, really miss the people and places! ... and the food X) I guess that depends on camera set-up and work habits, the longest time I've spent with Ronin-S was while filming 5 days of hyperlapses for a festival from 1pm to around 4am (with about six 20 minute breaks per day for Aerial shots) with an a73 + 16-35 f/2.8 GM. It was fine and I'm not a buff guy at all :D also the heavier weight eliminates some of the uncertainty and tremor. There are a couple of shots here (whole video of this was delayed until next year): kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5qrp6J9rpp2orM no post stabilization, 1 frame per second, 0.5s shutter. Probably should've dialed in more deadband, but it made things worse for some shots. The only time when the weight of a gimbal made filming impossible was while filming karting ... from a kart :D had to steer and hold the Ronin-S simultaneously and that wasn't possible in corners. The RSC 2 would've been handy in that situation because of it's compactness and underslung mode. I would recommend trying out all options that you are considering and making decisions only after that. Weight to size / capability ratio is definitely the best on RS 2, it is also more future-proof (you will be able to put larger cameras on it if you need in the future). RSC 2 is more compact and practical to live with, if your set-up works weight / balance wise. Weebill S will remain the lightest one though ... but to my eye DJI has the least robotic look from single-handed gimbals. Lat point is subjective though (=

Great job with the video, Matt! We have Ronin-S and RSC 2 is actually more compelling for travel / low profile situations - wonder where is the limit on RSC 2, if it can handle combos like R5 + 28-70 or may be even C70 + ... anything?
@thefilmpoets4 жыл бұрын
The max payload on the RSC2 is 6.6 lbs. I tested it with the R5, an RF to EF adapter, and an EF16-35mm III - and it worked well. That’s a pretty big setup. - The 28-70mm is heavier though, and I’m certain you’d need to rebalance as you zoom, whera’s the Ed 16-35mm zooms internally and I never rebalance it. Just a note about that. Awesome work btw!
@Ttales4 жыл бұрын
@@thefilmpoets thanks! Doing our best :D Yeah, it's like with the first one - even if weight is not the limiting factor, the balance might be. By the way 16-35 zooms internally but the glass still moves inside shifting the weight (but may be to a lesser extent). If you get a chance to test RSC 2 with some of the behemoth RF lenses like 28-70 and 85 for your follow-up video - would be sweet! I imagine they might work, but it will be tricky to flip the gimbal upside down. Cheers!

Could you let us know if the original manfrotto 500 can fit in the new plate? Thx a lot
@thefilmpoets4 жыл бұрын
You’re right. I actually recorded a section on this, but then realized that I didn’t have enough info. I think that the small manfrotto rc2 plates fit the top, small plate, but I don’t own them. The regular manfrotto plates for fluid heads will NOT fit. They almost do, but they are just slightly too big. Ok the RS2, the gear setup would block it either way. That would suck, but fortunately you’re able to mount a manfrotto 577 receiver to the front of the RS2 plate, and then use regular manfrotto plates on your camera. I worry about this with the rsc2 because the rear of the plate may get pushed out too far and bump things. It works fine on the rs2 though. Hope that helps! -Matt

REGARDING FOCUS ON RS2 You mention you tapped the back of the screen to rack focus in the video. Is this referencing the touchscreen on the RS2 or the Sony camera? Also Focus related, the front dial on the RS2 can be used to adjust focus digitally with a connected camera (using supplied cables)? I use the Panasonic GH5 and I've always struggled to get shallow focus with gimbals.

The rs2 can handle light taps on the rear of the screen without showing any jitters.
@tallsided4 жыл бұрын
@@thefilmpoets okay great, and light taps on the back of the RS2 screen allows you to adjust focus in the same way as touching the screen on the actual camera? What about the scroll wheel on the front? It can control focus digitally on the camera by hooking a cable up to the camera itself?
@thefilmpoets4 жыл бұрын
@@tallsided Sorry about the confusion. No you cant touch the rear screen of the RS2 for focus, you can only use the front trigger to adjust it. You can touch the rear LCD of a camera thats mounted to it and not see the touch cause a bump in the footage. Hope that makes sense - Matt

Thanks a load for this video! How much better would you rate the stabilisation on the rs2? That's the thing that matters most to me and what's making the decision harder.
@thefilmpoets4 жыл бұрын
how much better than the original Ronin-S or RSC2? I'll answer for both - The. new models both seem to stabilize better than the original Ronin-S. The differences between both new models are slim, but I still seemed to get better results with the RS2, and really it's not much bigger. The only circumstance that I'd use the RSC2 is for very light travel with no monitor or accessories. Thats the only advantage it has, foldable for small travel.

Hi, I like soo much you work , amazing. I have Rs2, but I can't shotting smooth footage like you, do you use warp or ibis in your R5? Thanks
@thefilmpoets3 жыл бұрын
I leave the IBIS on for the R5, but that doesn't help a ton. It depends on what you're shooting, but often times you'll need to apply a bit of post stabilization to make it perfect.

@supremebettaspku97513 жыл бұрын
Im not expect that much for a handheld gimbal, theres still a lil bit shaky scene when you use camera without ibis but you can correct it with adobe 👍
@thefilmpoets3 жыл бұрын
Yea the goal for me is to get it 95% perfect and then either finish the smoothness in post. That works most of the time, and if you're following a moving subject there's usually no need for post stabilization because their movement masks the imperfections. -Matt

Great comparison. I love the RS2, but what is the lightest payload would you recommend for its 10lb capable motors?
@thefilmpoets4 жыл бұрын
I mean it can take light payloads easily. An a7III with a prime lens would be fine.
@brentnora81284 жыл бұрын
@@thefilmpoets Thanks, that's exactly the kit I was concerned about. The Sony α7R IV and the 24-70 G Master Lens with a few accessories weigh just over 1.5 kg.
@thefilmpoets4 жыл бұрын
@@brentnora8128 you're good to go. Just remember zooming with that big lens will throw off the balance. If you must zoom without rebalancing, try to think ahead and set your balance at a mid-point, like 40mm or something. That way when you go to 24 or 70 it won't be extremely out of balance. Always best to rebalance though, especially when the body to lens size ratio is out of whack like most mirrorless setups. -Matt

Is there any reason really to turn supersmooth off?
@thefilmpoets4 жыл бұрын
I had it go wonky on me once when not sing any lens support. I'd use it until you have an issue. Remember to auto tune if you switch between the two. I'm not sure if its necessary but the manual makes it sound like you should .

NATO ports are better especially if you need a wide range of attachments for your rig. Does the Zhiyun have that?

You NEVER said RSC2's payload capacity in the video
@thefilmpoets2 жыл бұрын
You could google it. But basically rsc2 will hold a mirrorless and a large lens, so R5 with 16-35mm. Rs2 will go even bigger like a c70.
