Djibouti had strategic location at Bab El Mandeb, which leads to the Red Sea, a stone's throw away from Yemen (ref: anti-Saudi Houthi rebels), also close to Saudi Arabia and offers a military (navy, marine) launching pad for fighting pirates.. Most recent danger are Houthi rebels eh can be hit from a base in Djibouti.. My opinion is that the Interests and therefore influence of the western super powers will invariably be playing out.. Now, without resources, the AU ends up depending on Western money for projects and etc. If the AU then will depend on other entities like the UN or Western nations for resources, then what prevents it from abiding to what they say?
