Unraveling the Mystery of the WordGirl Fandom

Hello :] I'm gonna put all my other thoughts here! (I had some during the 20 hours it took to render this lol) WordGirl means the WORLD to me, and I hope this was a good watch for everyone who feels the same. The very first art style I had been just me mimicking the worg style lol and my first online username was “drtwobrainsfan”. It’s so funny that the thing I’d be obsessed with as a brand-new graduate is the thing that I was obsessed with as a kid ehehe. Here are the /neg thoughts: I’m aware the fandom has its issues like any other. I’m sorry to fans who have been harassed and bullied, you didn’t deserve that, and I hope things are better now after blocking/reporting those awful people. I, too, had a very upsetting experience when I first joined the fandom again earlier this year, but after blocking the person it’s been a lot better! This video is also meant to encourage the fandom to remain kind and supportive of one another. I hope I highlighted that well ^^ (okay negative thoughts over!!) I know I shouldn’t point this out, but also thank you for bearing with my pronunciations xD I’ll get better and more relaxed the more I do these :D I have SO MANY funny video ideas that are also meaningful to me (and probably a lot of you if you liked this video), so I’m looking forward to making more vids!! I’m super sorry about the audio/visuals, tho! It’ll be like this for the foreseeable future bc of the automatic copyright detection, and I don’t want to be wrongly flagged. They'll only ever look towards the fans when they see something they can use from them (without credit). The rest of the time, they'll take down anything that wasn't okayed by them and use copyrights and trademark law as the reason why.

I watched a lot of PBS as a kid but never heard about this show which is a shame because English and vocabulary were my favorite subjects growing up and I would’ve adored Wordgirl’s more mature, clever writing like something I’d see on Cartoon Network. I found out about it when I was around 18 on the internet with the most adorably wholesome fanart, I had to check it out and loved it. Now I’m almost 30 and seeing the fanbase flourish like this is absolutely heartwarming! Wordgirl deserves the fame 😄

nearing the end of this and this has just been fantastically put together…also i love the crackship mentions, i can relate to these things starting out as a joke and then becoming serious (me over here who accidentally started shipping mr big and seymour in a way of “they hate each other but also theyre gay” because of ONE singular joke i made that cemented my view on them forever). its so refreshing to see how welcoming the wg fandom is of ships that r more uncommon or even dont really make much sense, considering i see a loot of hate on rarepairs on tiktok from other fandoms. the wordgirl fandom has been nothing but welcoming since i joined and i’m so grateful for the short time i’ve spent in the fandom for that reason. it truly is such a lovely community who have an astounding amount of passion for the show and it shows in everything that people make from art, videos, fanfictions, and even just social media posts. it’s amazing that this show has been able to bring together a community like this that continues to grow until this day. sorry for writing an entire essay in your comment section SHFHEHDHS i loved this video and also i love your art having seen a lot of your content in the tumblr tags when i was getting into the show and was too shy to interact with the community, so i was extremely excited to find out you were making this video. like i said this is an amazing video and you should be extremely proud of how it turned out!

I always like Wordgirl because I always like seeing the idea of people suffering for doing good. It makes it so the audience can believe when they do something out of character because they seen what happens when they do good. But ultimately they will choose to do good. Also this kids were THIRSTY for each other.

I actually started watching the show last month and it might be one of the best shows to air on PBS. It reminds me of early Arthur in how it's hitting the adult audience as well as kids. I think I grew out of PBS the year after it premiered on there but I wish they had did something for its 15th anniversary. It's impressive that it managed to last 8 years on there and it's still so funny years later. The only thing I wish is that it had an actual ending to the show (maybe seeing Becky's actual parents from Lexicon, Becky telling her family who she is or fixing Dr. Two Brains).

Me encantó, entiendi la mayor parte de tu video, no soy buena escribiendo en inglés, pero aun asi escribire lo que opino sobre estos sucesos y por que me volvi fanatica de esta serie. Cuando me aparecieron recomendados clips de la serie note que ya lo había visto antes, por lo cual decidí investigar sobre esta serie, recordé que cuando era pequeña vi por discovery kids dos capítulos, en ese entonces no me había llamado la atención. En la actualidad amo los programas animados que estén muy bien escritos ,aunque sean con un fin educativo, pero llevado a un nivel muy curioso y sea entretenido para la mayoría de la audiencia (como 31 minutos). Para mí mala suerte descubir que el doblaje en español solo fue en la primera temporada y parte de la segunda temporada (por lo que investigue fue debido a quejas de padres de familia). Eso no me detuvo, uso traductor, me propuse a investigar de la wiki para saber más de los personajes y esto me motiva a aprender más inglés. He hecho algunos dibujos a lápiz de Becky y sus amigos, de algunos villanos y hasta incluso hice un robot unicornio con un estilo similar a los robots en la serie y con un poco de historia del mismo. La considero una gran joya, espero en el futuro poder entenderlo por completo y me encanta el contenido que hacen los fanáticos.

aw thanks! i do think miraculous' hold on us is very quickly diminishing. wordgirl focused solely on the show and being educational and entertaining while i feel like miraculous is mostly about selling toys which normally wouldn't be a bad thing bc it supports the show but man... i do miss the magic of the beginning of the ml series. (i have! i think an internet pal of mine drew them in the academy outfits xD they're so cuteeeeee)

I don't know why I'm commenting if I'm not even English speaking. Anyway word girl (known in Latin America as superwise girl, the name will sound strange to you but those of the dubbing had to make the name change so that it would not feel strange for those of us who would see the series, since it would be strange to see the title of the series translated literal) was also part of my childhood, I remember when it premiered in Latin America back in 2009 on the Discovery Kids channel, it was one of the programs that I used to watch the most on Back then when I was 4 years old and I kept watching it until 2012 when the series stopped airing in Latin America (some context, when they had finished dubbing the second season and it started airing in mid-2010, the parents made claims to it to the Discovery Kids channel for broadcasting a "violent" series and they asked that it be withdrawn from the channel, unfortunately as a result of that Discovery Kids did not double the following seasons and moved the series to a night time slot placing an announcement at the beginning of the intro saying that the series may contain scenes of violence, at the end of issuing the second season what Discovery kids did was repeat the episodes until in 2012 the series ended up being withdrawn from the channel), as a result of that I forgot the series for a while until Now that I'm recording it and watching the videos in English (since the dubbing that was broadcast on Discovery kids became lost media) anyway I have good memories with the series and I learned some words in Spanish thanks to the Venezuelan dubbing, and when I went back to seeing the series I knew it was better than I remembered and I am currently watching the rest of the seasons that I did not get to see at the time, without a doubt this series marked part of my childhood
