So clean work :). I wanted making the same for my house in PL, but it turned out that we have 80-90cm of rich black soil, and replacing it with a gravel would cost a fortune, so went for traditional foundation. Your work is impressive! One comment however, this is also a common mistake here: based on the weight and color of the sewage pipes you used a „foam” type. They have thin layer of plastic from inside and outside and foam inside between. They are cheap but don’t warrant long life. Only solid pipes (heave, expensive) shall be placed under the concrete slab.
@asgerjrgensen141410 күн бұрын
You should put the cold water pipes closer to the ground beneath the isolation, that way you will have cold water in the tabs right away as you are doing it you will have to empty the pipe before your water is cold.

Insulate the vertical section of the concrete footing. Make sure there is nothing without external insulation. No gaps at all. The 'Swedish skirting' on the soil outside the slab is very good too. The less cold the ground gets next to your slab, the better. Insulate, insulate, insulate.

What is the purpose of this metal strip underground, below the foundation line?
@taffygeek5 күн бұрын
Grounding strip . As the house is sitting on insulation it needs access to earth . Or at least that's what I think it is. In the UK we could use earth rods but that insulation seems to extend out quite a bit and you wouldn't want to cause a cold bridge by driving a metal earth rod through it.
@hansperukel31215 күн бұрын
Seems not very effective. Why the strip when you can do one simple rod?

I was wondering why the mesh wasn't being chaired up. As my father said many times, be quite and watch. Mesh for grid, rebar for reinforcement.

i would have never used el;ectric cable throught he floor, i think that is not even allowed in Romania, where i live. I wonder how you plan to build the rest of the house ? Normally here in Romania, they pour concrete supporting structire and fill in the gaps with briks and isolate it over. But you put those bulky M30+ screws in the foundation for a reason, don't know why yet... Also how much did this take ?

@WombleUK14 күн бұрын
Frost heave protection, they do the same or similar in loads of northern US states also where you often have to lay sheets of insulation around the outside of the building also. It stops the ground water freezing the footings & causing the freezing to lift the building & causing cracking also.
