Damo Mitchell - Lotus Nei Gong

8 ай бұрын

Joey Nishad chats about his Taiji training, weight-lifting as a part of Taiji, sinew changing principles and more. This conversation takes place over Zoom and so the picture quality reflects this.
Joey Nishad has an eccentric take on life and a profound take on internal arts training. This is combined with a great sense of humour and so this talk should be both enlightening and entertaining.

This felt like such a cliche and superficial discussion and not from your side Damo you really did try. I was waiting for Joey to get to the heart of matters but you only got as far as the superficial guts quite literally LOL. I was staring at Joey's belly while watching the whole 2 hr thing, I was in awe, can't believe I did that.

Good comment on lineage heads. Are you aware of any lineage heads of Internal systems that are genuine? I studied with Tung Kai Ying and Alex Dong for many years. Is it that bad everywhere? 0.000% Internal.

What are the electric energy practices?
@DragonIndigo
@DragonIndigo 8 ай бұрын
@@user-di5pc6xq1e In the high levels of internal training you can generate electricity for health and other things, even phenomena such as telekinesis (electrostatic tension with an object theorically), electrokinesis, pyrokinesis... It's really interesting... it's very famous the documentary "Ring of Fire" showing mo pai nei kung... every good internal style gets to the same results, just the right information and a lot of training, years and years...

As a new practitioner, I am curious about the part of the yi jin jing that has to do with hanging the flesh off the bones. I wonder if using momentum by swinging your arms around but trying to keep the bones close and letting the flesh go using the momentum to separate the flesh from the bones. Would this work?

Basically you muscles are pulled and elastic, when it’s relaxed it’s hanging like saggy skin, when tightened it’s like rubbery bands. Like a whip

If those incompetent teachers were not around people would keep searching and maybe find?! I have been baffled about people sticking with incompetent teachers for years. When the knowledge is right in front of them. I am thinking willfull ignorance plays a part. They show up day in day out for year after year following instructions that never get clear to them the what and why. It will rain manna from heaven one day , just keep performing the empty rituals.There is a deep wish for being perceived as/identified with taichi chuan not the burning desire to come to knowing.

My guess is that it depends on the goals and clarity of the student. Maybe his/her goal is to simply be part of a community or group.

Yeah! This is a complex issue. There are both personal and social aspects involved, in my experience. On the social front, when someone chooses a teacher and starts training in that school, a decision has been made (for whatever reasons originally) to join a camp of thought (like choosing a sports team to support, perhaps). And once that decision has been made, this teacher/school becomes their "tribe" and there is unfortunately a cognitive bias to remain loyal to the "tribe". This is one side of it. On the personal front, people hate to think they were wrong in choosing the teacher/school. They don't even want to admit it themselves. They are embarrassed for the world to find out they had been wrong, sometimes for so long. So such people, keep making excuses to discount any evidence that may indicate the error in their initial decision. On the personal front,, there is also the unconscious desire to please the teacher and gain approval from the fellow students in the "tribe". And sadly, this is one of the reasons (some teachers actively try to isolate students from the greater martial arts community as well) why students isolate themselves to their "tribe" alone. They get tired of seeing/hearing things that are inconsistent with what they want to believe. If they hear anything that challenges what they need to believe, to stay with the "tribe", they get severely defensive. And there is also the illusion "it will work on people outside the school, just need to train for longer". So it is a complex issue with a lot of different personal and social insecurities and biases involved, in my experience.

@@bewholeyogaWith one of my first teachers I found it inspiring that he warned about the attachment of the student to the teacher and that his teacher once threw him out of her school when he developed an attachment to her.
