Ok, let me get this straight. The guy in the last story thought OP mourning her deceased spouse was some sort of "invitation" to force himself onto her because in his twisted view, she should be starving for sex and shouldn't deny his advances... like locking the door behind him when they are alone... And... on top of THAT, he knew she was feeling so bad he thought it was ok to say that she should feel so desperate the least she could do was having sex with him... as if she owed that to him... Yep, out. Out of the table, out of the house, out of the friend group, out of their lives forever. What the hell!? Anyone who does this is INSANE in the membrane. Jesus, that lady can't catch a break, I hope she is doing ok!

Jesus Christ, "I came home to my husband dead on the floor" is literally the worst thing. Poor woman. :c Also, Doge, condolences for your trials right now. I heard how rough they were in your other videos, but didn't get to leave a comment. I don't know if you're reading these, but I genuinely wish you all the best and pray that things go as good as they ultimately can for your family. Don't dig yourself too deep into your work- as a creative, myself, I do the same. From one internet stranger to another, please be kind to yourself. You're worthy, even if you couldn't create.

It's good to have the other person pov on the last story. Now it's known without a shadow of a doubt that this Bard is beyond just being a "that guy" that he's more and capable of being a hell of a lot worse. I also hope that OP keeps a watch when leaving dm's house as well. It was already bad enough he ignored the fact that OP was going through a lot especially with it still being fresh that the man that she loved died and having to find him dead. But this Bard not so much not getting it but flat out ignoring all the signs and not caring how OP feels. Bard is a nice guy at dangerous levels.

Bard is not an okay person by any stretch of the imagination. My only recommendation is a restraining order.
@RiveroftheWither
@RiveroftheWither 4 ай бұрын
It also shows that Fighter isn't an okay person either. The first side by the DM made Fighter sound almost unaware of Bards behavior. This one however shows that he was aware but at best didn't care and at worst sided with him. Also as a bonus tangent for anyone reading this that's like Fighter. If you have a friend who is good to you but treats others badly due to racism, bigotry, ableism, sexism/SH/SA, cheating, etc, no they are not a good person, stop telling others they're a good person, stop insisting that everyone needs to put up with them because you think they are and don't be surprised when no one wants to hang out with you anymore either. If you choose to value someone who treats others terribly over those that are ACTUALLY good people, people will assume you are just as bad and leave you behind too. No one is going to put up with mistreatment for the friendship of one who dismisses and excuses it. Before you know it, it'll be just the two of you and when that happens, they're most likely going to start treating you badly too.

Controlling DM Story. As a DM you don't tell the Players what their characters are doing. You tell the Players how the world around their characters is acting or reacting to the Players characters. Telling one they 'forgot' something and then have that character Dash off is a straight up No-No. As a DM you could tell them their Character 'feels' like they have forgotten something trying to point out a plot point or some relevant thing to them, but it is still up to the Player to act. All in all I believe this DM was just interested more in a s3x fantasy than anything else.
@BlackPhoenix424
@BlackPhoenix424 4 ай бұрын
Agreed. As a DM myself for a long running campaign, one of the greatest sins that one can commit under that mantle is to tell your players what their actions should be. It robs all the agency from them.

Two Rouges Story. I never have a Noble's House empty. Even if it is not housing the Noble at the time, there is likely a caretaker group there seeing after the place. Now an abandoned one will not have any of the Noble's people there, but that doesn't mean some one else isn't there, the place had anything left behind to begin with (heavily dependent on the WHY it was abandoned), or that it has not already been looted. I would have told the Rouges they didn't find anything in the first abandoned one, the second had nothing either as it was in a fire, and the third would have had a retinue of guards there, plus a handful of servants (who would have been screaming bloody murder for the City Guards at the first sign of trouble). All to deter this behavior. It has always been my idea that if you want to loot a Noble's House you need a plan. Not a smash and grab plan either, but more like a hiest.

Story 2: Ah, consequences, the chaos/murder hobo's natural enemy... This can work if the entire party is down to play "Vicarious Mayhem." Otherwise, be a team player. Story 3: There are times when a "friend" turns out not to be after all. Condolences, OP. Story 4: Just about the only thing Bard did right was threaten to leave the game early on; it's a shame the whole group didn't get that offer earlier. What an absolute piece of garbage...

I have played only some games. And never been a DM. But it’s wild to think anyone thinks it’s a good idea to write a story that makes decisions for players. I always think the way to make a good play sesh was to basically make a playground with quests in it and it’s up to the players to discover them and the items hidden throughout. Whenever I think about DMing I always imagine a good session will require both players and the DM to use some or a lot of improvisation. The beauty of DnD is that anything can happen and it’s not like a static experience.

Hey, Doge, getting lost in work only helps temporarily and never solves the actual problem, only buries it deeper. You need to face the demon of the situation you have in your life so the healing could begin. I know it’s hard and not the kind of move one wants to make, but try to open up to a close friend of yours, a psychologist, or at the very least to a diary of sorts. If you would mentally get to the absolute worst scenario the situation could get to (or got to already), than you would be able to cope with it much easier. Sorry for getting involved and best of luck to you!

Simba at the start looks like he was reacting to the horror stories. Hope you're doing okay, Doge! Story 1 - I honestly would've called the non-emergency number for police and let them know about him for his own sake. I don't think someone is just going to stop doing a substance like crack without outside assistance, and there's at least a chance that he'll get the type of assistance he needs to break out of his self-destructive cycle. Story 2 - Sounds like the trash took itself out. Anyone who insists on a solo or even duo adventure when they know others are waiting on them is too selfish for any team-based game. Story 3 - Oi vey! I figured this DM was going to be a problem the instant he was trying to pair people up. Not everyone NEEDS to be in a relationship, and having a sex scene in Session 0 is a pretty big red flag. And the fact that he was ignoring backstories, ignoring character motivations, and even trying to ditch a character because their player was unhappy with their gaffs... yeah, no, I can understand wanting to avoid him entirely. Story 4 - Restraining order immediately and have some friends who are nearby and/or willing to come by to make sure that if Bard does try anything, assistance is close by.

Story #1 - Given what OP already knew about BK, calling him in as DM for a new group seemed ... worrying right from the start. BK's subsequent conduct more than bears this out. Yet another instance of putting up with someone's cr#p rather than risk conflict - and, huge surprise, they eventually got something that could not be overlooked or avoided. I GET the reluctance to boot someone, and the desire to give them every chance to come good. Trouble is, it depends on That Guy realizing that they are on thin ice. I am glad that it has since worked out for this group. Story #2 - I have no problem whatsoever with how the DM chose to handle this pair, nor with the rest of the Party letting them swing in the wind. Consequences, pure and simple. Robbing one house, then linking back up with the Party to do the job, might have been semi-tolerable, but they got greedy and very very stupid. Story #3 - "Shall we continue?" "Why not? Surely it can't get any worse, right?" Challenge accepted. Story #4 - ............

So they're pretty useless; no wonder she didn't say anything. Wow. I'd just leave/start recording with my phone. 31:16 OK, how is he locking the door from inside the kitchen? Why is there a door to the kitchen in the first place? 31:43 WTF?! 32:26 What?! As if he'd just poof away? Come on, OP. Then she just...walks past him? OK, if she could do that the whole time, then...? 32:57 Pfffft, it was that easy? I thought OP was trapped. From the way she's been acting this whole time, I thought she would see fire coming straight at her and murmur to herself while lying on gasoline. 33:19 Well, if OP had said anything about what the Bard has been doing or forwarded any of his messages, you'd know, GM. 34:00 "How can I be even more ineffectual? I'll leave." 35:13 OP still cares about this group? Hopefully, you never see them again, OP. 35:53 Good! Finally, a good idea. 36:23 Yeah, OP, they should drink tea by themselves, think getting locked in a room is perfectly normal, face away from their attacker, not be proactive, and not say anything to their friends; that's a much better idea.

So I understand your frustration here but there's a few things to understand before victim blaming: 1.) OP is at an incredibly low point. Like attempt at self-harm low. There's a point where people do just stop caring what happens to them and this game was their way of getting some light back, with two of four players being creep and creep enabler it probably seemed like they couldn't say anything. 2.) Women in these spaces often aren't believed and based on DM's perspective post it sounds like she only knew DM's wife well so coming forward would have been a risk. 3.) Even after all of this there's *still* a threat of this guy, she probably hoped it wouldn't escalate. It did, luckily she has a support network but it's clear that there's still a threat.

"if she could do that the whole time, then..?" please put yourself in the shoes of someone who is currently trapped in a room with a man who has repeatedly known that he wants to take advantage of you, sexually. Do you really, really think it'd be easy to walk straight into him, just hoping and begging he doesn't just decide to touch you? Even if you are not 100% sure, there's still that fear that was instilled in her. No one even assumes that they're going to be assaulted or attacked when they are suddenly placed into these situations irl, but that doesn't mean you will always 100% react the way you're 'supposed' to. I really don't think you'd act any different in this kind of sudden scenario...but, you know, someone will probably never be sexually attracted to you to the point of putting you in this situation, so... Just so you know, once you are placed to a situation at that point, and you are not in a great state of mind already, sometimes all you have to do is just beg and hope that nothing bad is gonna happen to you.

Like yes im sure bard has some issues but its not as uncommon as one would think. I knew of a guy in an all-mens club, one of the guys passed and they all agreed to "support" the widow. Ended up all fighting to try and get with her. Hell after my dad one one of his cousins and one of his good friends approached my mom like.. "heeeey.....". Not as creepy as this asshole but still.

I had to admire the military woman in that game, she was furious too but also she said she had done way worse than the guy when drunk. They gave him more chances than most would.
