Was there any explanation why Michael outright hated Toby?
@gregsager206217 күн бұрын
@@TallyDrake Toby, as Dunder Mifflin's HR representative in Scranton, answers not to Michael, who is merely the branch manager, but to corporate in Manhattan. Thus, Toby is not Michael's subordinate. The fact that he has no practical control over Toby because he's not Toby's boss is an open wound for Michael, compounded by the fact that Toby constantly curbs Michael's impulsive and inappropriate ideas and decisions in his low-key, laconic way. In effect, Toby is the one who controls Michael, rather than the other way around (and the ability to control everybody in the office is what Michael somewhat exaggeratedly feels is his prerogative as boss, even though he lacks the spine to be an actual authority figure).

I love how they played Pam's mom in this. She clearly knows Pam is in love with Jim, but is putting in effort to not choose sides. And didn't even make an appearance in this episode.

4:16 Eva Peron was the former first lady of Argentina. Ceaser Chavez was a civil rights leader. Michael confused them with being a couple when they were nowhere near involved with each other historically.

This is one of the BEST episodes! And this is the episode where American women everywhere fell in love with Jim Halpert. That scene with Pam, with the tears shining in his eyes melted my heart!!!

Watching along with you two is like watching with my friends. The comments and reactions feel natural. And a little good-natured teasing when a bold prediction fails to hit the mark is exactly what one would expect while watching a TV show with friends😅

Casino Night is a fantastic episode. Glad to see you both enjoyed it so much. Jan, Carol, the cliff hanger of Jim and Pam are all just fantastic TV. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to the first arc of season 3. Season 3 may be my favorite of the entire series. I’ll say that until you get to season 4, then I’ll say that one, and so on.

17:34 and 19:14 are in my top 5 favorite moments of the series. You almost forget you're watching a sitcom during them, the romantic tension is just so good. I really love Casino Night, everyone was on their A game during the episode. There's so many good moments even outside the Jim/Pam storyline, like Toby beating Michael and Dwight/Angela and Creed stealing 😂

Your Las Vegas guess is just a reminder that y’all aren’t Americans. It’s a 35-hour drive from Scranton to Vegas, or a few hundred dollar plane flight-totally not a plausible work retreat. 😂

It’s hard to pick a favorite, but this one is way up there! I’ve been looking forward to your reaction and you didn’t disappoint!! The writing on this show is brilliant. I know that several people in the cast were part of the writing team. The guys that play Ryan and Toby and I believe Mindy Kaling (Kelly).

Eva Peron was the wife of the Argentine strongman Juan Peron. The musical Evita is about her. Caesar Chavez was a United States labor activist. You’ll see some streets named after him in Latin American areas. No relationship there between the two.
