While calculating the value of Ra using the DC test, we calculate Ra (DC), this must be converted to Ra(AC) by multiplying by a factor of 1.22. Resistance changes its value when under AC condition due to phenomena like Skin effect.

In determining the parameters of the equivalent circuit of the generator , we normally say we want speed of the rotor constant why? We know that Ea.=k x(phi)x w From this equation I can see that if we increase w , then Ea. also increases , and if Ea increases it means that the rotor field which produced Ea. i.e., Br also increased , which means that current that produced Br also increased , and this current is If as in the ppt , So why do we need w constant if for the open circuit test we want a plot between Ea. and If and we can vary the two by just increasing the speed of the rotor?

One doubt sir. while measuring Xs we short circuit the alternator and on the other side we take the Ea value from OCC. so how the Ea from OCC could be equal to the Ea of short circuit because when we short circuit,the effect of armature flux comes into effect and that will affect the Ea value and that would be less than what we get from OCC??

short circuiting will create the current to flow into armature but the current is not very high as the current depends on the load connected to it and we have not connected any load. so the armature reaction effect can be neglected.

Sir can you please explain what is armature leakage flux? Is it armature flux not connecting with rotor or rotor flux not connecting with armature.

sir when we calculate armature resistance we give dc supply then remove one phase then we have two coil that means its inductance then how calculate resistance...

When your applying DC to a coil or two coils in this case, there is no inductive reactance..the only resistance is the resistance of the wires...go through the numerical in the next lecture things will be more clear...
