its good to hang out with people from other racesso not to get reality mixed up from perception, i notice alot of blacks think white people have no problems, bull shit they just as fucked up as everyone else black or brown unless they rich, and alot of non blacks assume every black family is disfunctional, even foreign blacks they assume we all grew up in the hood with no fathers and shit, i think thats a big problem in this country is that we dont really see each other if you know what im saying.

Cinco de mayo isn't even a real holiday or really considered of great importance in Mexico. The only place where its celebrated there is in the state of Puebla where it occurred. No one from Jalisco or Siniloa or Baja California and so forth cares about that day. I say drink up, wear sombreros, have fun. Most Mexican-Americans don't even know its history. I guarantee the people in this video think its Mexican independence day.

Politely admonishing them is not enough sometimes. People under a certain age are soft. I agree with your statement about ignorance! But other things I think when I think ignorance is bad. Like I myself and Latino and I know when people assume I'm Mexican by making a trump joke or whatnot I will call that ignorance as they are making fun of a culture 1, and two are not even fully understanding it enough to know I'm not apart of that culture. Now if someone were to come up to me and ask me my ethnicity or culture or ask like "hey I'm just curious are you Mexican" I would simply say no and help them understand, I wouldn't call that ignorance I would call it not knowing or misunderstanding, which in a sense is ignorance, but I like to use the word ignorance for people using their "Non-knowledge" to hurt others or make jokes/be racist, ya know? because I don't get offended being called Mexican because I have no problem with them😂 I do have a problem with being called Mexican and there is ill intent behind the word or phrase used against me.
@ash-er8wj5 жыл бұрын
the way I interpreted people being ignorant is for those who are willingly ignorant and chose to not seek out knowledge. Most developed countries have the opportunity to know about obscure topics, especially since America is diverse, so why not learn about it? However, I think being unintentionally ignorant is entirely different so if they are willing to learn then all power to them :)

Latinos are a mixed 'race'. For the most part its a mix between african, the natives of said region, and European (mostly spanish and portuguese) though there was admixture with other groups. Depending on the country and the regions within, the percentages they have of each will vary; for example, its no secret that of the caribean-latinos Dominicans are darker in general meaning they have a higher percentage of african despite having basically the same racial ingredients as Cubans and Puertoricans. You go to Colombia and certain regions mostly only have Spanish/Native admixture while others have the big 3. As far as the simplistic (almost exclusively in america really) notion of black and white; Most hispanics especially from my country just see it as a descriptor of skin color. I can call someone negrito/negro because their skin is dark and they can call me cano because my skin is white. There's an inherent understanding that we're both mixed to whatever extent and therefore we're family despite a superficial difference in skin color. I swear, most people don't know what Latinos are (the term itself is technically an incorrect use of the word). Sadly this includes Latinos, especially those born in the US and not an actual Latin-American country.

(later he reentered legally) He was targeted because he would often accompany his older brother in law enforcement (the only law enforcement in their small rural village). One day at 16 years old he was abducted and pulled into a bar where cartel members took turns carving into his chest and back with knives. What is the point of escaping for safety if the evil your escaping from filters in unchecked with you?

I feel like the people in this video didn’t represent all Latinos. A lot of people forget that their is more than just central and South American countries. Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Cuban, Haitians and Brazilians all are included and go through a lot of different situations that others don’t don’t relate to.

Jamaicains are not latinos. These people volunteer to do this video, it's not like the channel goes out seeking different nationalities to do one video.

well, you'd have to have at least one person for every single latin american country for this to be accurate since LATINO IS NOT AN IDENTITY THAT WE ALL SHARE.

It’s really offensive when others assume you’re Mexican when you’re not, just saying.
