To answer that question: Yes, they do. But what makes soft plastic lizards such good lures? In this video, I show you how bass react to LIVE Lizards underwater in their habitat. I provide some great commentary, and I hope you guys learn something! Let me know what you think about the footage in the comments below!

Those are salamander larvae, which are amphibians, not a reptile like a lizard. And axolotls are native to a lake in Mexico. So these amphibians you have are probably the larvae of a native salamander or maybe they are axolotls. But these are not lizards not even closely related. Birds are more closely related to lizards than amphibians.

suggestion for future videos in this series. instead of using a different style of bait for your control (like the jig in this video) use a couple types of the real critters soft plastic imitation as a control. for example in this video you could have thrown 2 different brands of lizards to see how the bass reacts on the fake vs. real bait as well even if its on the same fish without hooking it. great video man!

I actually lived this today. I was bed fishing and it seemed that one bass would literally just play reverse fetch the whole time. He grabbed every bait I had by my tail. The only way I was able to catch this bass was to change to a creature bait and let it float down weightless. Another bass on a different bed, using the same creature bait, just swallowed the dang thing without hesitation.

I think lizard imitations work in most cases not because Bass think they are a lizard but more so striking as the wriggling action of all the appendages excites them with visual attraction plus vibration. So many lures do not even resemble any living thing but work well.

Hopefully people see this, those are called Axolotls which are native to one single lake in Mexico. Theyre also an endangered species in the wild (the pet trade has helped to keep them alive). Theyre also not lizards but amphibian larve (think tadpoles) and really should not be used as actual bait.

I like how the bass hit the weight first towards the end of the video. I always weight a few seconds before my hook set. Been fishing a very long time and only throat hooked a couple of fish.

i would of love for you to throw a soft plastic lizard after some of these fish hit the real lizard just to see what they would do. Especially the one that didn't bite while the hook was in the real lizard

Catch_Em_All_Fishing salamanders are found in the woods under set rotted fallen trees and logs. anywhere where it's moist. this kids is using newts, they are found in creeks under rocks. or you can easily order them on line.
@lewishiggins393
@lewishiggins393 7 жыл бұрын
Edward Thayer they are mud puppies aka Waterdogs. They are fully aquatic salamanders, so you won't find them under any logs. Newts are also fully aquatic but have internal gills. They still aren't newts.

Thats a salamander but its not an Axolotl. Axolotls are almost extinct in the wild. That is a Tiger Salamander.
