Laughing at the idea of responding to a text just to get another 'ping' because often I hear the ping, think 'man I don't want to respond right now' but I see who it is, know they are lonely or need someone to talk things through, and respond. Sometimes I'm happy for the ping, but often I have to make myself respond and realize that this is, in fact, serving God by serving my brothers and sisters. But the example of not wanting to do certain aspects of my job and whining about it-yep! That hit home. I really appreciate your advice on how to respond to God in a thankful way for every aspect of my job. You are a treasure, Fr. Columba. Praying for you and offering my work challenges for you today. Good luck changing your motivations which are tied up with your whole self and history and are for me anyway always mixed. I think it's more important to accept and embrace all my mixed motivations than try to get them perfect.
