Hellblade 2 easily. It's the next-gen visuals we all have been waiting for since the launch of the generation. It's so far above anything else we have seen until now. The other games are more complex of course and therefore need to make more compromises in the visuals department. So yeah pure visuals Hellblade, no contest really

If you go into photo mode and move the camera inside her head looking out, you can clearly see all of the little hairs along with some very creepy inner eyeballs. So much detail there. ...What? I was just trying to get inside her head. Not weird at all. It's the point of the game, right?

Many comments seem to miss the point of the video (maybe even the channel)... No one is saying that graphics are more important than gameplay or anything like that, we come here to drool over the evolution of visuals in videogames

What is best graphics/visuals? more polygons? If so - Hellblade 2 is a winner. But when it comes to visual presentation as a whole - HB2 has quite genneric art dirrection and unimaginative cinematography. Long close-ups of contorting faces ≠ art.

@@3rdHalf1I’d still mostly disagree. I’ve seen individual elements done better in other games (foliage is better in Ghost of Tsushima, rocks and pebbles is better in Robocop, character models better in a few other high profile narrative driven games etc) . As a composite whole? Maybe. Possibly. But even then, not sure. HB2 is definitely spectacular, but I wouldn’t say it holds the current crown for visuals.

lots of games have great graphics these days (hellblade, avatar, forza horizon, etc) but I wish game companies would focus more on physics and interacting with the beautiful worlds, they build, in interesting ways instead of just throwing the player in these static worlds with brain dead AI

@@balaam_7087⁠⁠⁠⁠First 5 minutes of the game is slowly panning on a single piece of rock. Not even 90’s anime could get away with that. Next 20 minutes was depressing on rails crawling sequence, that was done far better in MGSV. As for cinematography, HB2 has mind numbingly bland camera work even in trippy sequences. I get that it was trying to do the single camera shot thingy, but it did nothing interesting with it. Not even creative match cuts between scenes. My problem with HB2 is not that it’s a “booring walking simmulator”. My problem is that, despite ammount of pollygons, it’s visual presentation is artistically bankrupt.

@@3rdHalf1we are talking about graphics, not art direction. Polygons, ray tracing, ambient occlusion, volumetric smoke /clouds, tessellation, fluid /cloth simulation etc...

It's tough, but to me, Alan Wake 2 & Night Springs, Phantom Liberty and Hellblade 2 are all damn close. They're all gorgeous games, and I'm thankful for the privilege of getting to play them all on a nice PC.

Personally i think it matters in the sense that if its say an open world game, you can be more forgiving on certain things since obviously you cant pack as much detail into a game that's a full world compared to a game that's just one room. In that case i think the gameplay matters. But if you just talking does this one screenshot look better, then yeah, gameplay don't matter.

This whole channel is 80% about graphics, and the other 20% is about how the gameplay synergizes with the graphics. People commenting solely on gameplay, at least on this channel, seems a bit misplaced.

I think the game is the most graphically impressive videogame I’ve seen my computer run. It looks better than Cyberpunk and Alan Wake but…. Interactivity is an issue

Playing hellblade 2 with high quality headphones, HDR working just right and the graphics cranked was the first time since i played crysis that i felt genuinely blown away. Its the first game that almost didnt feel like a game, the game being pretty basic didnt matter too much considering how good the rest if the experience was, ive got a close up PHOTO of my monitor where it looks like the fine hair on a persons face is fucking rendered in hellblade 2, the fine detail in the player models is just..... Its honestly astonishingly stunning. Alan Wake 2 came extremely close to making me feel that way, but there were just still too many video gamey looking areas, but the game its self was great. Avatar looks amazing but for me, it looks like a game. Hellblade 2 absolutely takes it when only considering one variable, there is no question to that. Buts its the weakest in terms of being an actual game.

I haven't played Avatar, but finished other three with maxed settings and Hellblade easily made the biggest impression. Mostly due to unbelievable geometry and environment details, but also software Lumen great to the point I didn't miss "Nvidia's" and impressive liquid effects. But it's a linear game and I'm afraid that we are far from seeing such visuals in more open worlds. Remember The Order 1866? Almost ten years passed and I think that games started to look comparably just recently - it needed next generation of consoles.

Stalker looked average nothing special visually,even think looked worse then metro exodus which is like 5 years old game, maybe gameplay is good but visuals are normal,wukong looks better too and requiem

Hellblade 2 and AW2 is top. if only graphic wise, i say HB2 win this one. but if we're include gameplay, AW2 wins by a mile. not that i don't like HB2, i really enjoyed it as i enjoy HB1. But AW2 is on another level.

Destiny 2 strikes a very good compromise between visuals and performance IMO. This game is extremely well optimized, would be nice if more games scaled / ran like D2. Of course D2 isn't using UE5 but I think the DEVS should focus more on optimized performance as its number 1 priority. However, I think much of the issue is people playing at the wrong resolution, meaning high end GPU's up to RTX 4090 are really "optimal" at 1440p not 4K. When it comes to consoles that 3.5 GHz Zen 2 simply doesn't cut it. The GPU isn't remotely suited for 4K obviously but a stronger CPU could at least help it with 60 FPS at "Dynamic" 4K. I have over 1500 hours on D2, the game just works so well with a TON of customization / replayable content. They really knocked it out of the park with the latest Final Shape Expansion.

Elden Ring is just open world Demon Souls what came out in 2009. It has a terrible pc port but it is pretty fun gameplay Red Dead 2 does have side quests though

I’m sorry but Avatar shouldn’t be a contender. The aesthetic is eye sheering, animations wonky. It does impress in wide open vistas but the world lacks density. It’s nowhere near as impressive as the other path traced titles mentioned in this video. TLOU2, GoT RDR2(all several years old at this point)look better. Don’t understand why DF holds it in such high regard. It’s truly a turd with a glossy finish.

I just finished Hellblade 2 and I'm now playing Alan Wake 2, both on PC, and I would say that they both excel in different ways. For pure realism, Hellblade 2 is unlike anything I've ever played. I've been to Iceland and walked through some of the same locations that are in the game, and it brought me right back to those places on a very deep level. I also come from Washington State, and while Alan Wake 2 did represent that region reasonably well, it didn't hit me the same way that Hellblade 2 did. Hellblade 2 also had better facial animations both in cutscenes and in normal gameplay. But in terms of art direction, level of detail, and environmental storytelling, Alan Wake 2 was far superior in my opinion. Lighting was more realistic in that game as well, especially when path tracing was enabled. For pure visual realism, I'd say HB2. For impressive integration of graphics with other elements of the game, AW2.

The lighting is better in Alan Wake 2 which makes sense considering it has path tracing while hellblade has lumen and path tracing is generally better. But the actual human characters look a lot better in Hellblade 2. In AW2 while they look "good" they still have that sort of "plasticky" look most human characters in videogames have. Its most noticable when there is live action cutscene with Alan in studio and then it transitions into ingame graphics, thats when I notice how the human characters still have that sort of "plasticky" look compare to real life footage. In hellblade 2 the human characters look a lot more real where in some scenes it almost looks like live action.

Full disclosure - I am playing on a 2080 super, so path tracing isn't a part of my experience outside of photo mode and some very beautiful slideshows. Most of my impressions are based on seeing the gameplay of those more technologically blessed than myself. But even just the standard ray tracing and baked lighting of Alan Wake 2 seems more impressive to me than Hellblade 2, especially as an aesthetic and narrative tool. The variety of light sources, colors, and effects really added to the sense of realism. That being said, there were some annoying artifacts and visual distractions when using features like RT transparency, so it isn't perfect, at least with my hardware and settings.

I don't understand why people are so mad at this game. This was made with a vision and story to tell, and the best way to tell that story was a linear graphics and story focused experience and it exelles at that. Nobody gets mad at visual novels, but when it's 3d no, it has to be like all the other games. The other games are great but accept some variety guys.

Visual novels can get away with it as long as they have different choices for the player to make that affect the outcome of the story a bit. Otherwise, I would say the same thing to those developers of visual novels and walking simulators: "If you want to make a movie, then just make a movie." The point of a game is to play it, and it doesn't even need a story as long as the gameplay holds up. No one criticizes Tetris for not having a story.

@G360LIVE Nobody criticizes tetris for not having a story because it's intended goal is to be a rapid fire puzzle game and it achieves it well. Hellblade 2 wants to tell a story but also wants some of the interactive elements you can only get in video games and it does it well. Why can't we have experiences in between movies and games? A movie is passive and games are usually active, so what's the issue with trying things in between if they work? Not every game has the same point and your too narrow minded if you think that.

Agree 100%. People who get upset at what its "not" have a terrible expectation on what they got themselves into in the first place. People will always complain. Then if its too long/broad/too open world with "not enough to do" then theres a problem with that. Its baseless. The game does a perfect job of what its going for

Not only does hellblade 2 have better character models but it also uses nanite to render in a much higher level of graphical fidelity in it's environmental detail. Also there's no pop in of LOD during camera transitions like you would find in horizon. Plus HB2 uses Lumen which is a form of raytraced lighting far superior to the baked lighting you'd find in horizon forbidden west. Better volumetrics, particle effects, and even the use of world partition to switch map areas quickly put HB2 on a different level. Stop lying to yourselves and get over it. Hb2 looks better

Hellblade 2 IS A MASTERPIECE, there is NO OTHER GAME like it. Not even Hellblade 1. HB2 is on a whole nother level that no game has achieve before. And it is AMAZING on the Series X. Honestly it's time to just ackonwledge this. From the very first battle I felt something that I have never felt before, like I was damaging a REAL person, something unique that No other game has ever achieved. This is incredible.
