Small birds with big personalities! They are really smart, tooo smart sometimes 😅 They are always paying attention, can’t hide food from quakers. Quakers are super affectionate but definitely sassy. They are hilarious too.

OMG! I love that little Quaker! I understand Quakers can be loud. But, I’m on my way to deafness thanks to Caiques perching on me and giving a good scream! I read they can be cage aggressive. You’ll have to let us know. I love when you said you like not being bitten. I cracked up.😂🤣😂❤️

My Quaker always chirps when I’m talking. She wants to be part of the conversation. They love sticks. Mine spends most of her day arranging tons of chopsticks. Enjoy your babies!

Good to know- I read they are one of the few species that make a nest with sticks, so that makes sense! Going to get them sticks!

I love Quakers! I currently have 2 conures (male & female) and a male parrotlett. The parrtlett is more of a biter, but not our conures. They nip but no biting.

I just found your channel.I love love love ❤️ Africian Greys , Quakers & Cockatiel.I had a very sweet little girl Quaker ,Ollie. She died @ only 6 yrs of Bornavirvus at my vets hospital of a grandmall seizure @ 10 am March, 22 , 2017. The place where i purchased her never had her parents tested. This was passed to her through the egg.She started to she symptoms of this hiddious virvus @ puberty. I lost a beautiful African Grey rescue ,Sugar, who really was bonded to me .She used to court me and out some food in my ears and hold her wings in a certain position and make grunting noisesbto me.I loved her so.We had to be separated temporarily and she died of a major heart attack from not seeing me .I suffered PTSD over if i was told by a therapist.I grieve over her still and have kept her ashes. I have a male Timneh now, named Stormy Boy.He’s wonder talks alot .He is just little territorial around his cage .Iam hoping when i get my hugh apt in a week or so i an work with him on this. Iam currently in a temporary efficiency apt. that i took here in NH to be near my son, which has been crampt for Stormy & me.I am getting him a brand new cage as soon as i get my much bigger apt.Cannot find a cage I want yet.I wanted a stainless steel cage but its out of reach financially and that upsets me too.Sooo nice to have found you.I love your little guy on your shoulder.😃

lol I can relate SO much re the ears! I've got lorikeets though, so about 5 times louder & a higher toned call that really makes my ears ring!!!!!!! Actually, watching this, I'm realising how much mine have settled. I've got 2 rescues from an abusive home (accidental, he loved them, but kept them in 2 TINY cages, with no stimulation, toys, company, anything cause he didn't know any better) & one of mine in particular did this to me everytime I got near her cage when I first got them & in particular if I got near her when I had them outside, where they could hear the wild lorikeets & she would call them & omg my ear!!!!!! Now she rarely does it! Boy calls for me everytime I leave the room, but mostly they just have a few hours screaming to wild or video birds in the morning, but then just quietly chat to each other or me after that & really don't scream in my ear at all anymore. I wonder why she stopped. Video brings back memories though, I remember that ear screaming SO well lol. Making me smile & laugh seeing it, very cute :)

Hi! I got a new linnie at a pet store a week ago. She is 6 months old. She was super scared when I brought her home. She's not tamed at all. I have been working to gain her trust, but she will not get close to stepping on to my hand. She doesn't come out of the cage even if I leave the doors open all day when I'm around her. She has gotten used to my hand near her in the cage and will let me give her treats. But she doesn't seem treat oriented enough to want to step onto my hand. She won't even get close to the treat if my fingers are too close. I will continue to work with her and try every day, but I would love some tips on the next step so I can get her out of her cage to interact with me. I don't want her stuck in a cage all day, and I don't like interacting with her through bars it makes me feel bad. I have read article after article and watched video after video, and nothing is helping. Thank you!

Try moving your linnie's cage around the house with u so they're with u every minute you're home. If the cage is too big get a smaller cage for around the house and keep her in that for a few weeks while you're taming her. Also have her sleep in your bedroom - at least for a while. Be careful to have lights out for at least 12 hours and be as quiet as possible in your bedroom during sleeping hours. Also have Parrot TV, other bird sounds or music on for her all day so it feels like a safe space :) Millet is a good first treat to have a small bird take from you. The long stem allows u to give treats (even through the bars) while you're at a farther distance. As she gets more comfortable with it you can move your body and hand closer. Also try this desensitization technique both with your hand and with your body. Start at the far side of the room from her cage. Slowly walk closer until she barely starts looking uncomfortable. Stop there. Stay there until she relaxes again and then slowly back away. Search for the power pause technique by Birdtricks for a demo. Once you can stand by the cage do the same thing with getting your hand closer to her - first with your hand on the outside of the cage and later with your hand on the inside of the cage. Remember to move slowly. Once she's taking millet from u the millet reward for being near your hand will accelerate your progress! Good luck!

I have a severe macaw. She is nippy...5 years old is what the lady told me. I got her in February and love her so much, but I feel like she gets scared or overstimulated and nips. She rarely brings blood..but she is definitely nippy, lol.
